  1. I think my light *might* be on the low end of “medium” light, but not sure. What would be a better light that won’t break the bank? Keeping in mind the tank is only about 15” wide.
  2. Finally bit the bullet and got some plants! Went to the LFS today (still over an hour drive). Got some Hornwort, and Rotala Indica for the background and 2 Rosette Swords for the mid ground. Now just need something for the foreground, think I still want to try some Monte Carlo, but they only had one that wasn't looking to great.
  3. Ya know it's only a 15" cube right? 🙂 Having trouble picturing some of what you're saying. If by "right by the wood" you mean put the 3 or 4 Cryotocoryne wendtii in front of the wood that will take up the entire front. I was going to do Dwarf Baby Tears, but I thought the Monte Carlo would be easier?
  4. Maybe I'll ditch the Scarlet and try something else. Been sitting here with stuff in my cart for 3 days cause I can't decide what I want! lol
  5. Yeah, I was gonna get more the one, I mostly just want the Monte in front of the driftwood, so not a huge space... What about the Sprite and Scarlet if I get them? Are there more then one plant in each pot, never bought plants before, not sure how this works lol.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out. I was looking at the Octopus, so I might try some of that too... I might still try the Monte Carlo and/or the Scarlet Temple anyway and see how they do in my tank, my friend's Monte Carlo is doing great in his little orb tank with the built in LED. I'm going to get some easy green as well.
  7. So I'm setting up my first planted tank, have kept tanks for years, but never got into live plants, have done saltwater for a while (currently have a 37 gallon saltwater tank) and decided to try a small freshwater plated tank. I got a good deal on a 14 Gallon frameless cube tank. Here is a pic of the tank so far. The light is just an Aqueon Clip On plant light (may upgrade later) Currently this is what I have in my cart: They all seem to be fairly easy. My other question is, will one of each be enough? How much can I split them up into separate plants? Or is it better to just plant it the way it comes out of the pot? Monte Carlo - For foreground ground cover Anubias Golden - Maybe in between the pieces of driftwood Water Sprite - Background/midground Scarlet Temple - Background/midground
  8. Figured I might as well show a picture, next step is ordering some Plants from Aquarium Co-op!
  9. Yeah, I guess, never used a bacteria additive before so wasn't sure if I should see a spike in anything. I'm guessing the Nitrates just haven't built up enough to show up on the tests yet?
  10. Right, that's what I figured but I would think in a week I would have seen at least some spike in something, but everything has been 0...
  11. So I started a 14G cube tank last Monday. Have been keeping tanks for years, so I know the normal cycling process, but I figured I'd try this one using Seachem Stability. I used Prime for the water conditioner, but only for the initial fill and for top off water, I haven't been dosing it to the tank or anything. I started off with the Stability last Monday and added 8 neons, have been following the instructions and doing the daily does of Stability. Long story short, I haven't seen a spike in anything yet. Have tested with API test strips and API liquid test kits, and have gotten 0 Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate every time. I also added an ammonia alert to keep a constant eye on the level. I know the prime "detoxifies" all three, but I should still be able to see them on the tests right? Is the Prime messing with the tests? Should I ditch the Prime and switch to just a declorinator? Thanks
