  1. Just Doug the mystery snail making an epic climbing transfer. They never fail to entertain me.
  2. Update time. Bad and good. Unfortunately my vampire shrimp's second molt was not successful, and it passed away. I don't know what changed since the previous successful molt. However, everything else seems to be thriving, including a third mystery snail. An olive jade to join the ivory and magenta. I found them all hanging out on one of the trees today. There's also still lots of cherry shrimp as well as some pink ramshorn snails. My Amazon sword is sending multiple shoots out that have been growing new plants.
  3. It does look quite similar. It doesn't seem to swim so I guess that would rule out leech. From what I looked up they eat very small things? Hopefully not a problem for baby shrimp. When i observed it on a plant it was just kind of wandering, there were shrimp nearby but I didn't see any interaction.
  4. I got it in a shallow dish in the morning light. Doesn't look like a planarian. After looking up pics I think y'all might be right with leech?
  5. What kind of worm thing is this? It's like a dark red at the front fading to a pink slightly tapered tail. I tried to look for a triangle head or eye spots but couldn't see any. Is it a type of planaria or something else?
  6. One of my white clouds has one bottom fin constantly stuck out, with some red swelling/bumps/sores at the base. I don't know exactly how to describe it. He was eating fine just prior to this video and doesn't currently seem distressed. No nitrites or ammonia, very low nitrate, 69F, close to neutral water, no recent changes in water chemistry. Any thoughts?
  7. Looking good. I'd speculate the cloudiness might be from the big root? If you're not seeing nitrite/nitrate/ammonia, maybe do smaller water changes. Nice white clouds 👍
  8. I don't have a time lapse but here's a before and after of a beat leaf.
  9. I'm happy to announce that last night I moved the largest white cloud fry from the grow out bowl, back into the 29 gallon with the adult school. He(?) seems to have fit right in and been accepted. Also, I noticed what I think are copepods in the tank, so they have live food to chase around.
  10. I guess I'll say gold white clouds. I've gotten 4 standard white cloud fry so far but I'm hoping some gold will appear at some point.
  11. I got some water spangles (salvinia minima) a little while ago that's doing well. My tanks also have lids.
  12. One of my nerite snails seems to be happily trucking around (batik), but the other seems to sit around a lot (the zebra). I've confirmed its alive, but I'm wondering if it is too cold for this individual/species. The tank is at 69F. I have a tank available at 75F if that would be better.
  13. It's fluorescent. Sounds like it's not really worth messing with
  14. I'd like to be able to keep my lights on longer without causing an algae explosion. I have a variety of plants; Amazon sword, dwarf sag, various anubius, various crypts, moss, water spangles(floaters), a little val and giant hair grass
  15. So, my aquarium lighting has two light tubes. If I were to take one out, would I then double the amount of time I left the one on? Or is there like a lighting curve. Would my plants still be ok. Can duration make up for intensity I guess is the basic question.
  16. In my limited experience, my assassin snail will hunt mini ramshorns but leave anything bigger alone. Even if it got a few babies of the big ones I doubt it would make a significant dent. But I know there is still an inherent risk with a predatory snail and they could each have slightly different personalities and preferences.
  17. Found my vampire shrimp hanging out in the filter tube. It came out to look at me recording and went back in.
