  1. Just a random idea, when we go (North America) 100% electric vehicles. What about an automatic speed limit adjustment depending on zone of city or highway etc? Preventing the vehicle from being able to go over a certain speed. Random, but with all the tickets and worse consequences I hear about when it comes to speeding what do you think?
  2. They also enjoy hitching the occasional ride on a Nerite or large 🐌 lol!
  3. We have some hornwort floating around a 55g that houses some rcs, yellow, and Amano shrimp. They do travel amongst the stem plants and filter too. As well as a Mikrogeophagus altispinosus male and a female Apistogramma Cacatuoides. No shrimp death lol, sure it's never 100% that any fish won't do it...but our Ram doesn't care about shrimp and the Cacatuoides rather takes them and Guppy/Endler fry under her wing...or fin lol. Protecting them from our medium school of Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi's... Never had a problem with Otocinclus and any shrimp, very sensitive those Otocinclus! But yeah Amano shrimp are very confident lol so we throw maybe an extra piece or 2 of cucumber or veggie treat in that tank...as even the Poecilla will snack on veggies...
  4. Hmm....maybe I will use a roller to apply although a brush may be less bumpy??...I'll do some YouTube surfing and see what's best and available. Thanks
  5. For our 125g build I plan on painting black for background...any paint recommendations?? Thanks
  6. Great topic, Black backgrounds look really good with real or even plastic plants. Tends to help those greens pop! We use posterboard for black backgrounds. But do have a couple tanks with the graphic backgrounds that feature some desired but unachievable plants! Lol We rather leave the sides open, but have closed off a couple sides due to predatory fish peeking on the innocent inhabitants! *Edit* For applying backgrounds we use scotch tape for solid black, or the double sided for graphics
  7. Great post! I literally thought there was just one Echinodorus...the Echinodorus Amazonicus. Lol! After looking at the other main ones found in hobby, yeah it does look like Echinodorus 'Martii'. I thought at first it may be the Echinodorus grisebachii or Echinodorus amazonicus. As the leaves appear quite large, but that kinda signature wrinkle in leaf makes it look very much like the 'Martii'
  8. Definitely has that rhizome look and fern type growth from it. Never had water sprite so can't say. Does look ferny though lol Cool freebie
  9. Tank looks 👌 We have had Danio rerio with Poecilia and they seem okay with the shorter finned Poecilia....but longer finned (anything really lol) is a target with Danio rerio. Maybe not always or right away, but its very possible they will harass the Poecilia... They are very active fish, Danio rerio and in a small school are ok, but will harass other fish, and definitely snack on any fry lol. But not older fry, weird I know lol... but they never snacked on any fry that were decent size but still unidentifiable. But again, we successfully kept them with sorter finned Poecilia, in a 55g. No fry, no nipping at least what we saw and added a nice effect to the already colorful tank! You certainly have enough plants etc for the Danio's to zip around and through so a small school usually harassed itself...and usually eats their own eggs...but I wouldn't completely bet on the Danio eating all the eggs...as we have had Danio rerio parents leave a ton of eggs and fry alone to grow amongst them...yep. Sorry for page response and if I am just repeating what someone else has said. I would say Yay to shorter finned Poecilia and small school of Danio rerio, as other than above mentioned it did work for us. You could opt for Endler's Guppy as they are smaller and may be of less interest to the Danio's... Hope this helps, We are new to the hobby, but continue to learn and observe some wild stuff!
  10. Thanks, yeah they definitely have that reptilian/snakey look lol. As they grow my son likes them less haha!
  11. Wanted to share one of 2 Polypterus Senegalus we have. The other appreciates some 🧽 filter action (at back wall)...whereas this one likes the foliage!
  12. Hello, In our experience of keeping Tiger Barbs, even in larger schools, is eventually they nip eachother to death and certainly almost any tankmate....regardless of their population count. They just like to lol, chase and nip. Honestly not sure if they really care for plants, as they are just too preoccupied with chasing eachother lol. I would opt out of keeping another smaller fish with them, but that's me. I avoid those pesky barbs as they just turn into fin nipping bullies lol....Great looking fish. Good luck though, maybe you will get lucky for awhile.
  13. Oooh that would be a nice cross for sure, just the name alone right, lol sold!
  14. Yeah I figured we were too far lol....It seems like one just cant ever have enough tank with these fish, eat...breed...eat..breed lol. Prolific is an understatement! Probably have to set up tubs to keep up with it, try to keep them separated as we go for more specific traits... Ah the Mrs doesn't want more tank, that sucks but hey at least there is another option like a shed or other building lol. We got a basement to do this in, but Guppy breeding will probably take this basement over if we are not careful lol. Great looking fish but we do like other fish too! On places like Kijiji people sell them for as little as 50cents, so I see how one can easily hold hundreds over time because you can't sell them due to this.
