  1. Thanks. I had initially thought they were both female, but then I came across a video and a few documents that said that the reflective dot on the head was an indication -- though obviously not a LOT of those descriptions around. And one clearly has a reflective dot vs the other, so I thought maybe I should do some research - maybe just different attributes. It's been a month (plus whatever store time they had), so I'm thinking that by this time, they must be mature enough to see the coloration on the tail (if it was a male). Time to go back and gamble with another pair 😛 Thanks for the reply.
  2. So I have a pair of clown killifish for about four weeks. One definitely has darker bands than the other and has a reflective spot behind the eyes that you can see from above (2nd photo). Also that particular one has a very slight hint of orange you can see from above. However, it isn't doesn't have the truly telltale tailfin coloration. How long does it take for rocket killifish to fully mature and is the reflective dot a sexing trait? Or am I just overly hopeful and I probably got two females?
  3. Agree with @Hobbit. I bought two and sure enough, one was a dud after a month and a half. Rotated a few times just in case. The other one began to sprout rather quickly and is coming along in my nano. Hoping they grow out to the surface for the killifish to hang/lay eggs.
  4. Well, and part of my personal situation, is the leaf is just catching too much algae and shading way too much of the other plants (including its own smaller leaves). It also had part of the leaf torn and so combined with all that, I wanted to prune it back.
  5. Is it best to cut it tight to the rhizome or should you leave a small "shoot" length so it can split off a new leaf?
