Frogbit works. If you get 5-6 plants you will be covered in a month or so. I trim the roots on mine about once a week. I also have to remove plants often because I only want a small section of it in my tank. I got six plants less than a month ago. I still keep about six in my 20 but the ones I have removed have covered 80% of the surface of my 10g.

I also run a Seachem Tidal. I like mine but the flow adjustment doesn't seem to do much.
Other than that I really like it. I stack cutout sponge material in mine and hot glue a screen over the skimmer.

I had the same thing happen. I started dosing a bit of potassium and the holes stopped.
I now add a teeny amount twice per week.

Never used Dr Tims, I use Fritz ammonia. Put in according to directions and instant 2.0 PPM ammonia.
I have no idea if the substrate is absorbing it though.
Good luck

I have other hobbies, like RC planes, helicopters and monster trucks. I also play guitar. And photography.
That said I would miss my tanks if I had to give them up. I spend a good bit of time just watching what fish do.

Ok thanks alot. Ive had my rams maybe 2 months tops. I can tell a big diffrence in their color getting brighter in the 2. I think these will be the first 2 types i try to breed because their my favorite so far along with the scarlet badis in my wifes nano tank
They are two of my favorite fish. Good Luck with them.

This may help on the Bolivians.

See if this helps on the GBR

The Bolivians are not easy to sex. Have you noticed any pairing of any sort. How old are these fish?
The Germans are a bit easier after they are grown.
Both the Bolivians and the Germans are easy to sex after they start to breed. Their male/female parts change a bit when they are breeding and the difference is fairly obvious.

If it were me I'd float em in a bucket or stick them in your tank and leave them in the pot. Just get them in the water.
That is what I do. I usually treat a bucket of water and just toss the plants in there till I'm ready for them.

How hard is your water? I have super hard water and a similar setup to you. I have been considering dosing trace elements.
Out of the tap it is fairly soft. I keep a bag of crushed coral in my filter. After the coral on the API test it takes 6 drops on the gh and around 5 on kh. The coral bumped it a drop or so on each.

@KentFishFanUK if it makes you feel any better I have the same deal going on.
I added 10 cherry shrimp to my tank today. I can find at the most five of them. I know they are not in my filter as I have that part covered. It seems to be the larger ones that I can't find. The super small ones are out and about. Took them just a few minutes to come out. The bigger ones are still in hiding.

Added 10 red cherry shrimp to the tank today.
Now each of my Rasboras has their own pet shrimp. LOL
Just like the Harlequins they are very small, but at least they are not old. I get to watch them grow.

Making sure fish stay rare means that the fish will remain expensive. Who needs that?
Not me.

Be patient, I would not add anything with nitrites at 2 ppm.

Glad to hear someone else is doing a similar thing 😅 is there a method to the madness or do you get good results even with random mixing?
I keep a daily record of drops added. I also add them only during mid way in the light schedule.
I use easy green, easy iron, seachem flourish, seachem trace and seachem potassium. I use varying amounts of each.
I keep a portion of each in a small bottle with a eye dropper in each.

I use five different items for my plants. They are on a five day rotation.
They get 4-8 drops of something daily. I don't believe in weekly dosing.
