  1. So moving on, I watched one of Cory`s videos about contaminated tanks and he said to put a crazy amount of salt in it and turn the heat up to 100 and leave that for about 1 week, then rinse and do it again. Dose anyone have any input on this?
  2. So tonight when I got home from work the last of my eight African cichlids died, I drained the tank put everything outside so I can sterilize things this weekend, I put the two Plecos in a 10 gallon quarantine tank and I’ll continue to monitor their condition but they seem fine still. I double checked the pH level before draining the water and it was 7.95
  3. I have a digital tester and the PH in the tank reads 7.8, 7.9. I have several other tanks and keep good water perimeters so I feel like I can manage a good balance, maybe this fish species is just out of my experience level.
  4. So I had 8 cichlids and 2 bristle nose plecos in the tank and after 2 courses of metronidazole and have lost all but one cichlid and the plecos. 😓 So at this point my question is should I take out the 3 remaining fish and put them in a different cycled tank? What do I do with the 125 now?
  5. Just wanted to add a little more information, the tank is 125 gallon long, there are 6 African cichlids and two bristle nose plate those that are babies, all of the African cichlids are still juvenile, We have done water test with the API test kit and all levels are perfect with everything. Four yellow labs and three have died so far, the fish in the photo has both cloudy eyes, and another one has one cloudy eye. The tank has been running for approximately one month. It has a 4x canister filter and a sponge filter, we lightly sprinkle in African Cichlid pellets two times a day, approximately a teaspoon each time. I gravel vac 25% water change once a week. We have eight other aquariums that have absolutely no issues. The tank in the photo is the one on the right that’s having the issues
  6. My fish are dying and they have cloudy eyes? What is happening???
  7. I did a post on a local fish group and have some interested people, so hopefully I can get them a home
  8. Ugh I don’t know what to do with them
  9. I don’t know what this is and someone gave me 6 of them, I don’t know anything about them
  10. I thought that the softener water (salty water) would be harmful to them.
  11. We are moving into our new house and I need some advice asap, I don't know which way to go here. The new home is hooked up to a water softener, we can bypass it with some slight modifications, we are also on well water. I brought some of my fish over last night and I brought there water with them. I don't know if I should use the softener water? the well water directly? The well or a bypass is all cold water and will take a long time to heat up. I have only tested the waters ph at this point and both well and softener are about 7.2ish. all my fish are in temporary 10 -30 gallon tanks until I get the big tanks filled, but I don't know what to do, I'm in serious stress mode here.
  12. I have 2 of these and I can not remember what the LFS told me they are. I love them! they are funny active curious small and just fun to watch. Thank you
  13. I feed a couple different things in a weeks time. twice they get frozen brine shrimp. Extreme flakes (I just started to offer), tiny hikari vibra bites. sometimes I also give tiny dried shrimp, I offer zucchini to my plecos, I just got some community repashy also. its a community tank with lots of fish that can eat different sizes and things. he has looked at all of this and don't have any interest in any of it.
