  1. Vagabonds by Hao Jinfang It's a sci fi novel about Martian students returning home from Earth for the first time in five years.
  2. I've got a similar mix of gravel, black and purple GLO fish gravel, in my oldest tank and I've never had this problem. I wouldn't completely rule the gravel out but I'd look for other causes first.
  3. This seems like as good a reason to bring up Heilung as any.
  4. I'm here for this. 9640 8211 6254
  5. I've been listening to a lot of vaporwave lately which lead me to discover fishvapour, which is aquatic inspired electronic ambient music. I have no idea what that is supposed to mean, but it's a great soundtrack for watching your tanks.
  6. The manager at my LFS, said he didn't like bare bottoms ,even in QT tanks, because he's seen fish be stressed out by them. Fish don't understand the reflections they're seeing on the bottom of the tank after all. Since his advice of a minimal substrate to break up the mirror effect runs counter to the advice I see on here I decided to split the difference and line the bottom of my QT tank with Indian almond leaves. I only made this change a few days ago, and have no idea if I'll keep it, but in the short term I'm happy with it.
  7. I don't know what, but I certainly learned something from that video.
  8. Hi there! I've kept Glofish ™️ for almost a decade. I initially used the "official" light that came with that tank kit before switching over to a nicrew light with a blue LED "moonlight" option. As far as I'm concerned I'm getting the same quality Glo experience with the nicrew light. I was only able to check it with the fish since I don't have any GLO decor anymore. However, I have a suspicion that blue LEDs are pretty standard hardware. I've never had any reason to believe official GLO lights were anything other than regular blue LEDs. I'd be very picky about buying any GLO light decor, even official stuff, if you can't see how it works look under a blue LED. On the positive side I've had a lot of luck with regular glow in the dark decorations. I hope that helps!
  9. It's a signature, learn about it here. https://forum.aquariumcoop.com/topic/11089-signature-as-context/
  10. Are there any answers they could give your that would satisfy you? Really sounds like it's time to move on to me.
  11. I want to see the co-op succeed, but I'd hate to see them become another big box store.
  12. I've successfully kept red cherry shrimp with tetra Glofish. As long as there are plenty of places to hide they should be fine, I never observed and tetra Glofish going out of their way to hunt down a shrimp.
  13. I've kept Glofish™️ for almost 10 years, exclusively the Glo danios and tetras. In a very real sense they're the fish that got me into the hobby as an adult. While I'm starting to branch out into other fish now, there's probably always going to be a school of GloTetras in one of my tanks. My frustrations with these fish have more to do with the corporate greed that surrounds them than anything to do with their nature. The blue LED that makes these fish look their best also makes it impossible to grow plants other than anubias. This leads sterile looking tanks full of artificial Glofish™️ branded decorations, maintained by water treatments and carbon filtration. While Glofish™️ got me into the hobby they also burnt me out because of how creatively unfulfilling I found them. Part of me will always appreciate how much color they can add to a tank, part of me will always get a kick out of their garish and artificial nature, but it felt so good to get rid of that blue LED and get some plants going.
