  1. @nabokovfan87 I may play around with the UV Aquatop filter again. The flow rate is really high for a nano filter though. I even turned the the outflow tube into a spray bar. Something with a spray bar may be the answer at the end of the day.
  2. The tidal is on the left side of the tank. it's the other side that has been the issue. I added a Sicce micron nano on the right side. The canister filter was frustrating to try and get working. I may give it another try.
  3. The tank is only 7.9 inches deep. I added duckweed to the tank about a few weeks back. The main issue is the entire right side of the tank has no flow whatsoever. I added a micron nano. We'll see if that helps.
  4. My shallow 10 gallon tank has been setup for about a month now. Originally, I tried to put a Sicce Whale on the tank. I could not get the filter working and the cabinet was too restrictive. Next, I tried an internal filter from Aquatop. The flow was too strong for the rice fish and white clouds. I went back to using a Seachem Tidal 35. Which is fine for about half the tank. The other half has no flow. My first thought was a small internal filter on the right side of the tank. Maybe a small power head? I would try the small Oase canister filter but reviews say it's loud. This was taken right after setup. More plants are in the tank now.
  5. My cat is the problem. Fish water is delicious and she doesn't mind getting wet.
  6. That might work. The piece of glass I have is really nice. Would have to pick up more clips because the tank is rimless.
  7. A tidal 35. I cleaned it last week. I'll pull it apart today and see what's going on.
  8. Its Holiday time! Which means this is when something fails or goes wrong with your tank. My Seachem Tidal died today. Noisy backup filter added until the 26th.
  9. Nope, it's literally one piece of glass. Granted a very high quality and heavy piece of glass. I would need to take it to a glass cutter to have any modifications done. Been thinking about having a feeding hole or two cut.
  10. I setup my UNS 60S last weekend. The build quality is amazing. My only gripe is the official lid is a piece of glass. It keeps the cat out but is a pain for feeding.
  11. @anewbie last winter I had an Aqueon tank crack from the top rim to the bottom rim during a water change. A minor tap with the python resulted in a massive crack. At least the water didn't leak out immediately.
  12. Right after setup.... The fish have been doing well. I've been dosing prime and stability all week. On Sunday, I dosed the tank with fertilzer and excel.
  13. Yeah it was. The cat enjoyed her new spot for a day.
  14. After breaking down the old tank last night, I picked up the old stand to move it. The stand fell apart immediately. My cat had a temporary cat tower thing.
  15. Sooooo after making multiple messes with the canister filter and trying a Aquatop internal nano UV filter, I put my Seachem Tidal on the tank. The UV filter has too much flow but I plan on keeping it to deal with algae issues. The fish should be fine to run the filter for a few our with the UV light on if necessary.
  16. Frustrating night. I cannot get the canister filter to work. No matter what I do, it will not start a syphon. The filter is either noisy or it's quite. But when it's quite, the thing starts to leak. The tubing has no kinks, it's connected and sealed properly. Spent the evening yelling colorful language at it. So I have a teeny tiny HOB in the tank just to provide flow. Fish should be fine.
  17. Welp....I picked up the old stand and it promptly fell apart. Good thing it's being replaced.
  18. Let the chaos begin. I decided to use what hardscape I have first but it's not going to be enough. Guess I'll go shopping tomorrow for some hardscape and plants. Tank is draining, plants are soaking in water with peroxide in attempt to deal with algae.
  19. This evening, I've been working on mocking up the filter. Sicce provides some tubing for the filter but not enough. I stopped by my lfs and picking up some different tubing. It's super stiff and a smidge too big. I'm not taking it back because it will work in an emergency. The filter is sitting on one of the shelves because it's easier to route the tubing through the top opening. More flexible tubing is on my list of supplies to buy. Anyway, I took two pictures of possible setups. Right now I'm leaning towards leaving the inlet and outlet on the back of the tank.
  20. @Matt B I also do not understand the size of the tanks on some of these stands either.
  21. I picked up one of the Top Fin Stands. It's made by Sauder. My main gripe was when putting it together, two of the screw holes for the feet stripped easily. Ended up going to Menards for larger screws. The cabinet doors were difficult to adjust as well. On the plus side, there is a foot in the middle of the cabinet. I don't know why some of the stands have only a few millimeters around the tank. The UNS 60s has about an inch or clearance in the front and back. And a few inches on each side.
  22. The HOB was very small too. I've used the Aquatop Forza 5-15 filters before. They are perfect for 3-5 gallon tanks. Only piece of equipment in the tank will be a heater, which I use to keep the tank temperature stable.
  23. Currently, I have 6 Rice fish, 3 white clouds, 2 pygmy Cory's (started with 4), and an assassin snail I can never find. He makes an appearance then disappears. The tank will be planted but I'm still trying to figure out how I want to scape it. My hope is that my fluval nano or finnex planted plus clip will have enough spread. If not, I'll need a new light. Filtration will be handled by a Sicce Whale 120. I stopped by my lfs, we talked about the tank and how to filter it last week. The other options were an internal Aquatop with a UV sterilizer, or several tiny HOB filters.
