  1. @SweetpicklesThere are clear plastic legs that come with the light that you are able to configure to the type of rims your tank has. I typically use the type in photo 1. My new used tank has a canopy and since I did not want to mount the light I will just be propping it up as in photo 2.
  2. On my 36”x15”x24” tank I have used a Finnex Stingray 36” for a couple years and it’s plenty bright. I just bought another one for a used acrylic 36”x15”x20” tank that I am working on. I made a simple lid for the new tank using a cut sheet of polycarbonate greenhouse panel.
  3. Thanks again @Biotope Biologist and @lefty o!
  4. Thank you @tonyjuliano and @lefty o for your insight!
  5. Thank you @Biotope Biologist , @CT_ and @Andy's Fish Den for your replies!
  6. Hi there, I was wondering whether anyone has used plastidip on an acrylic aquarium before? I use it on my glass tanks but this is my first acrylic aquarium so I’m not sure… I have read that some people say that is fine and others recommend static cling film instead.
  7. So apparently doubling up on totes creates another problem since the inner tote does not touch the floor… 🤦‍♂️ sigh. Smaller size it is then.
  8. Does anyone have any experience using these two tote sizes? I was going to double up to help with bowing. If I use the HDX I will monitor for chlorine as per @Hobbit’s advice. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-50-Gallon-Stadium-Blue-Stacker-Tote-2-Piece/46001914 https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-55-Gal-Tough-Storage-Bin-in-Black-HDX55GONLINE-4/205597365?
  9. Thank you @Beardedbillygoat1975 and @Hobbit for your insight and suggestions.
  10. Hi there, So my recent purchase of a 55 gallon aquarium didn’t go exactly as planned (issues with the seams). The dollar per gallon sale is unfortunately over now and I still need something to grow out my bristlenose fry. Does anyone have any advice in regards to totes? I understand that Sterilite and Rubbermaid are made using food grade plastic and that they are the go to recommendation. Is there a particular size that people tend to use? I will be using two of them to help with the apparent bowing issue. How about the totes made by HDX? While I have seen that many people have made ponds out of them online I could not find any information about whether they were food grade or not. If they aren’t, have people on the forum still used them? Thanks so much for your help.
  11. I see. Thank you for replying @Angelfishlover.
  12. @CalmedByFishA 29 gallon was the first tank my wife allowed me to get. Little did she know the rabbit hole I would be sucked into 😂. One inch thick acrylic would definitely help with the circumstance you have. I am sure it must have been very stressful keeping a glass box of water. You are also smart to plan ahead for the future. With my rambunctious two boys my belongings tend not to last as long as they do anymore 😅. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and helping me properly tag Angelfishlover.
  13. Thank you CalmedByFish and Angelfishlover for your advice. Sorry to hear that you are facing the same issue @CalmedByFish 😔. Totally envious of the custom acrylic. What size is it if you don’t mind me asking? @Angefishlover are you saying that your Aqueon and Marineland tanks have the same bubbling? When you get a chance I would definitely be interested in seeing the pics of your tanks. It would be helpful for me to determine what to do. If anyone else has experienced this issue before I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the matter. Thank you.
  14. Ugh. So I swapped it out and instead of one really worrisome seam I now have 3 medium ones 😑. Has anyone experienced this before with brand new 55 gallon Aqueon tanks? I usually buy Aqueon 20s and 10s and never have had this problem. I’m kind of at a loss at what to do now honestly. Be that annoying customer and swap it out yet again, return it and not get a 55 gallon by Aqueon or live with it?
