What KH should I be shooting for, 150 shows in the high bracket. I have plenty of wondershell, so adding it wont be an issue.

Some of you remember us posting pics of this tank with a totally different plan (Zebras, Dwarf Gouramis, Pygmy Corys), but thanks to Co-Op's vids and some others, @TheCzarista and I are totally smitten with Guppies, and eventually want to try breeding them. The plan has now changed to 5-6 mutt guppies with 6 pygmy corys. We want to learn how to keep guppies healthy, watch them breed on their own, and learn a bit before we try actual strains and deliberate breeding for traits. We're still pretty new, so even the small achievement of properly cycling a new tank with no rough spots made us both excited! We didn't give in to impatience so now we can happily add fish. Guppy lovers, I'm going to have TONS of questions, so any tips you can provide a newbie would be greatly appreciated. Attached are my parameters, and the tank is staying between 78-80F.

http://selectaquatics.com Has some live vinegar eel cultures cheap. I'm assuming I can post his link here since he's been featured on the channel before. If not feel free to delete, mods 🙂 -

Hard to believe it has only been a bit over 5 weeks since we started this tank. Its like a jungle in there now where the swords and the dwarf lily fight for dominance. Also, I swore I wouldn't name fish in schools but this one is Bubala, and she's my favorite. She's the runt and always hangs out at the top front right of the tank right by my computer desk, so we chat all day. She'll even eat from the top of the water.

Are there any particular species that is more hearty? Or one that is more prone to health issues?

Welcome, would love to see some pics of your tanks! -
You don't have a bubble nesting species by any chance?

Shrimp need the minerals and calcium for sure. I use wondershell in our tank, and I have heard crushed coral is a great method too. I believe I saw one poster say they kept the coral in small bags near their filter so they could change them out easily when they were depleted.

Well they aren't escapees then, that's good news! They can be good hiders, but mine has never burrowed in substrate. He'll attach to plants, filters, logs, rocks, right side up or upside down. I'm sure they will turn up eventually, mine is more active in the evenings. Also I have read snails can take as long as a few days to acclimate and explore their new tank. So wherever they are they may be in shutdown mode right now. Maybe @Guppysnail can offer more insight?
