I am sorry, I should have been clearer... I was wanting to know what that LOG was.... 🙂 Thank you!
-
I was watching a twitch stream of a fish tank (because of course I was), and I saw this log in their tank. It appears to be a live (or at least not ceramic or resin) log, and the fish seem to be nibbling on it. Does anyone have any idea what it is?

The good news is that the ammonia is dropping steadily, and the nitrites are off the chart, nitrates at about 80. That may not sound like good news to most people, but it means the cycle is going!

Yay!! Our plan will work!

Water Conditioner - ammonia, nitrite, nitrate
TheCzarista replied to CalmedByFish's topic in General Discussion
When your tank crashes, for whatever reason, (which can happen for a number of reasons), Prime can save the life of your fish if it does what it says. We have seen it help our betta when we messed up and removed too much decor and plants at once and took out too much bacteria. I would not recommend it for cycling your tank, unless it is an emergency situation, but it can be a very helpful band-aid to keep fish alive until your tank recovers -

it detoxifies them, it doesn't remove them. That means it will still show up on your test kits and strips, but it isn't toxic to fish, because the toxic part is neutralized. It is still useful for the bacteria to create the cycle. -
Hello, my name is Foxy and I’m a fishaholic.

Our two cats have absolutely no interest in the tanks we have set up around the house. It is like they don't realize what is on the other side of the glass -

I love the ivy on the back of the tank! How is that rooted? We thought maybe it was in the HOB filter, but I would think that would uproot it when you cleaned the filter? Any tips you can give? -
Thanks for the compliment on the aquarium 🙂 Like he said, we actually don't mind losing fry, because we don't have room to have a thousand guppies, and we don't have a LFS to sell them to, so we don't mind a little population control.

They are very good in a community setting. Just be advised that they are active eaters, and you may have trouble getting food to the rest of the community

That a 10 gallon tank is perfect for one full grown male tuxedo cat. I would not recommend a pair in there though...

MY snail THINKS he needs his own tank...geez
TheCzarista replied to Guppysnail's topic in General Discussion
We all need more snail pictures, right? This is tonight.... Bela (the nerite) obviously felt that Fred's shell was in need of a good scrubbing. Here he is hitching a ride. So far, they have made a lap around the 5 gallon tank, Fred climbed the wall and parachuted off (with Bela still attached) and then made another lap. Bela is hanging on tight! -
Mystery snails have way more character, in my opinion. We have both nerites and a mystery snail, Fred, in one of our tanks, and the nerites do a FANTASTIC job cleaning the tank, but they are very nocturnal, and we hardly ever see them during the day. They even like to hide when sleeping. Fred, on the other hand, is a one-snail show, always doing something oddball and kooky, and full of life and personality. He doesn't do as good with tank cleaning, but he has so much personality.

Which fish should I get for my 5 gallon
TheCzarista replied to Dwayne Brown's topic in General Discussion
Only every single video about nano tanks EVER! -
I am kinda partial to him lol

I think you are right. Thank you! Well, since they are not harmful to my betta, and since he is a jerk to anything else that tries to clean his tank.... guess who has new tank mates! 😆

We noticed today these very very small critters on the glass in our betta 2.5 gallon tank. Any thoughts about what they might be? The only plants in this tank are anubias nana petite that we got from ACO several weeks back. We haven't added our removed anything since then. Our parameters are solid, listed below. Ph 7.2 No ammonia No nitrites Nitrates at about 30 This is a fairly established tank. The only thing of note is that we had an algae bloom that recently died off. Any thoughts would be helpful

We weren't sure if that wisteria or water sprite. It was fun ordering a blind bag of plants lol- 13 replies

Updated photo.... as you can see, the dwarf aquarium lily is going insane. We have had the bulb for less than a month now. Also, if you look really closely, in the bottom left, right next to the sponge filter, is one of the 5 celestial pearl danios that we have in the tank. They are super shy, and they LOVE the planted tank. We also do still have 4 tangerine tigers in there, but they like to spend a lot of time in the back mess/moss wall.
