  1. I really love the whiskey barrel filter, seems like a great idea! Ive had a metal tub set up for a few years now and never had any problems with it. Wish mine was that big though😂
  2. So sorry about your angelfish. He looked like a really cool fish. Excited to see what you get up to with the new stocking.
  3. Can rainbow sharks be kept with angelfish or gourami?
  4. Well it's been around a month so it's time for an update. Life has been busy and I hadn't gotten round to it. The anacharis in the 40 are doing very well and they grew all the way up to the surface so I have trimmed them for the first time. I lost one black neon and a cory, also the female guppy passed however she outlived all the others. Apart from that all other fish are doing good. I moved all the black neons and the bn plecos into the 40 gal about 2 weeks ago and all are doing well. The neons have really bright blue stripes and I'm very happy with them. It's good to see the tank a bit fuller again. Now that there are 4 bn plecos in the rank the original one (dubbed Mr. Spikey by my mum) has become a lot more active. He also dug out the sand around one of the coconut cave which I guess they might breed in one day. The 3 little plecos are all cucumber and algae wafers. One very strange thing is that the smallest of them has a weird hole in her belly. I'm pretty sure that its not open however I'm not sure how much it effects her. She acts like all the others and eats as well. Anybody know what this is? The fluval spec has become quite overgrown with plants and not much light reaches the bottom anymore. Although the plants are thriving the shrimp numbers have slowly dwindled. I think there are only 3 left and to be honest I have no idea why the others died.
  5. Cool! Are those platy fry that you are growing out?
  6. I already have community plus for my corries but the plecos also love it. 8 was thinking that having a variety and something with more vegy matter would be beneficial.
  7. I was thinking of getting some repashy for my bristle noses but I don't know what the difference is between many of them. Recommendations? Thanks
  8. @Guppysnail I sure do love my bn plecos, they're so derpy and cute! I've never heard of the heat controller, I'll look into it.
  9. 5 days ago I went toy lfs to pick up some fish and shrimp. I got 3 normal bn plecos and 12 black neon tetras. Also got 9 yellow cherry shrimp which I am very excited about. They are all doing well and are eating good.
  10. A few days ago I moved all of the fish from the quarantine tub back into the 40 gal along with the whiteclouds and guppy from the spec. All seem to be doing well and it's good to have fish back in it. Planning on going to the lfs soon and picking up some fish to put in quarantine.
  11. Well I've put this of for a bit now so it's time for an update I never thought I would never have to do. On the 9th (which is also my bday) I woke up about an hour earlier than usual, then went to check on the fish. As I walked in there were loads of fish floating at the top and lying on the substrate of the 40 gal. Somehow the heater malfunctioned on temps were over 100 F. I moved the whiteclouds from the quarantine tub into the spec, and then all the fish from the 40g into the quarantine tub. Not sure what I would've done if I didn't have other tanks. 28/40 fish didn't make it. 5/12 cherry barbs made it 6/9 corys made it The bn pleco also survived (thank god) All harlequins, whiteclouds and the guppy didn't make it. 😢 Since I've only had the heater for half a year I went to the lfs and got a new one as the heater had a warranty. I have no idea what I'll do now but I'll prob add all the fish back in soon once the I've dialed in the new heater.
  12. Where does crushed coral come from? Is it collected or manufactured?
  13. Corries enjoying some repashy community plus.
  14. @Guppysnail I think all of the plants benefited from being outside in the sunlight. Hopefully they continue to thrive in the tanks.
