  1. This is Sven. I had to adopt him once I saw his different color eyes. He also has quite the personality!
  2. I’ve noticed a general cloudiness in my tanks when I have excess phosphates. My tap water is well water and they use phosphate buffers for ph. I use phosguard to lower both that and silicate in my tap. You could look into it. Filter floss also does a heck of a job (as mentioned earlier).
  3. That’s pretty awesome. I’ve been feeding bloodworms, so I might start hand feeding (or at least trying) soon.
  4. I have a 5 gallon with a bright light directly across the room. Maybe I’ll see if blocking that light will have an effect! Thanks for the idea.
  5. No, there are some black skirts and corys for dithers. They do a good job, the parrots will come out with them sometimes but not frequently.
  6. I recently got in a few blood parrots from Aqua Huna. They have always been my wife’s favorite fish and we thought it would be fun to have a few. The only problem is... these guys are super shy, like barely get food because they’re too busy hiding. I have seen them eat so I know they’re willing but they are just too busy being skittish. I have a few optimal hiding spots (and they take full advantage) to make sure they’re comfortable. It’s a planted 55 gallon with a black background and driftwood/rock hiding spots (good enough that you can’t even see a fin when they hide). Anyone have experience getting blood parrots to warm up to them? So far I’ve been sitting in front of the tank and being still for about an hour a day so they get used to me... just looking for more ideas.
