  1. Thank you. Here's the tank. It is very basic. It has a small hob with flow control, which I keep turned down low when there are fry. Also a nano sponge filter. There is no heater for these particular fish, they seem to like it room temperature. I have lots of crypts and a few potted anubius along with a bit of guppy grass floating on top.
  2. So Saturday morning I put a trio in the ten gallon tank. They spent the evenings both Saturday and Sunday doing their spawning behavior thing. First thing this morning I put them back in their regular tank. Now its a waiting game to see if there will be any fry. Fingers crossed. Here's a lousy photo of a pair getting friendly.
  3. Here's a little bit better shot of the lone baby on it's third day swimming. It is already getting some color. I need to get busy and get some fry growing in the breeding tank to keep her company. Next week perhaps.
  4. Thanks. I got these guys last November with the intention of breeding them this spring. So I set up a new 29 gallon for the ones I bought, and have been preparing my 10 gallon to breed them in this spring. They have been kind of frisky for a while now and beat me to the punch. I'll add pairs to the 10 gallon soon and see how it goes.
  5. I never want anything back that has been pooped, by anything.
  6. First baby sighting this morning. Problem is it is in the adult's tank. I haven't put a pair in the breeding tank yet. That will happen soon. I'm afraid this one will not survive the adults, but we'll see.

    Repashy

    That Repashy candy looks yummy.
  8. I only speak from my own personal experience. Your experience may vary. The ramshorn work well for me, with or without shrimp. They absolutely eat the algae and will make a big difference in the overall plant health in a tank.
  9. I agree with the above by ALL fish, Erickson, And Pepere. If you cut back fertilizer and light you will help the algae thrive. Feed your plants. I keep lights on 10 hours and keep nitrates between 20 and 40 ppm. I have very little algae. To get rid of the algea you already have you might add ramshorn snails. They will get rid of it.
  10. I have kept amanos and honey gourami together with no problem. I don't know about cpd z. My first thought is to use a different supplier. Amanos are tough as nails, ime.
  11. The co-op easy plant light will not fit in your brackets. It's 1 inch too wide and 1/2 inch too thick.
  12. Not my photo (I wish), but my childhood stomping grounds in Puget Sound. We had a cabin on this private island. I wish it was still in the family.
  13. I've had this happen to me in the past. Turned out to be bubbles from the sponge filter splashing on the airline tubing. It will wick its way out of the tank.
  14. Yes indeed. And then came Space Invaders.
  15. It sounds like you don't test your water. That's OK though, you can still do water changes without harming your fish. Get a new, dedicated, clean barrel or garbage can to use for water changes. 30 or 40 gallon should do. Get a dedicated airstone and airpump for this container. Get a water conditioner. I use Fritz Complete. I always double dose the conditioner just to be safe. You never know what amount of chlorine the water utility district will be adding (or other chemicals as well). It is important to let the new water gas off micro bubbles. Cold water always gasses off as the temperature of the water rises. So you must keep this container indoors. It will take about 24 hours to be safe for your fish. I always wait several days just to be sure. It is also very important to dechlorinate the water so use the Fritz Complete as soon as you fill the container. Now add the airstone to the water and let it bubble away until you are ready to do a water change. This will keep the water well oxygenated and help with the gas exchange. Now you are ready to do water changes without stressing or killing your fish.
  16. I agree with everyone that it will be just fine. The one thing I would worry about is water being trapped in the void. Depending on the finish of your stand that may or may not be a concern.
  17. Looks like someone trimmed their hair and stuffed it in your sponge filter.
  18. I private messaged you an answer to your question.
  19. That is looking awesome, and very artistic. You have great taste. Can't wait to see the finished product.
