  1. Omg I think you’re right.. the female one 🙏 THANN YOU
  2. He’s definitely not a SAE. Rounded tail. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
  3. I saw this guy alone in a tank of cherry shrimp. I thought he was a Siamese algae eater but he has no barbels. Some research shows they’re supposed to have them while others do not. I’m confused. He’s peaceful but super fast to catch in net… LPS didn’t know what it was and gave him to me for free. He is trying to school with the black neon tetras. Didn’t eat any of the micro pellets… not eating any algae so far. Any ideas? Thankssss 🐟
  4. I think bettas like dark:soft water. I’d buy some Cappa leaves or almond Leaf extract. Hope he gets better!
  5. Ken has a good point^ Any substrate could work and I totally understand how changing substrate could be really inconvenient. There’s an obvious problem though since this guys barbels are all worn off. It’s probably from them being brand new: maybe they’re really under-fed and digging deep and/or more often into the substrate causing barbel breaks and bacterial infection that would normally heal in a healthy fish (like Kens) unnoticed. There’s a lot of possibilities bc they’re still new but certainly there’s something not right. If you keep the substrate I’d make sure they’re all medicated in a bare bottom tank (to avoid further damage). Might want to do the med trio since they’re new. Get them really fed up (research this? Maybe proteins, small meals every 2/3 hrs?) so when the go back to the community tank they’re not digging as much and if they do they’ll be healthy enough to fight off any abrasions that can get bacterial infections. Your water tests parameters seem fine. Ph is a bit high for them which could mean-maybe-there’s some salt in the water and salt can slowly kill corydoras Adding tannins can help A LOT while they’re healing!
  6. I know, I’ve made plenty of mistakes! Never knew Gourmis did that! Now, bc of you, I’m learning through your mistakes! Awesome! Hopefully my mistakes can help you?! I’ve been known to save 30 guppy fry doomed to die 😂
  7. Sweet poem!! I love it! So your fry had an appetite for his siblings? Dark throne indeed!
  8. Hey there fellow aquarist! It could be your corys are different or younger than others and can’t tolerate the substrate. I’ve had a corydora grow from a baby to 3 inches and I definitely noticed that his barbels had gotten thicker/stronger! I was really worried about his barbels and thought about using Sand but regular aquarium gravel was the best as he couldn’t move it but could still wrap his barbels around the rocks. Also, I’d use large sinking pellets for him to pick on so he’d be full and wouldn’t have to dig around so much for leftovers...but he’d dig anyway 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’d dose them all together with Erythromycin (if one is visibly hurt the others may be too) your quarantine tank (make do with it being bare bottom) to give yourself time to pick out new substrate you can live with. hope he gets better soon!🤞🏻
  9. Hey idk if you’d consider using some erthromycin? It’s safe for plants! “Maracyn's active ingredient is an antibiotic called erythromycin. It provides relief from bacterial infections such as body fungus, gill disease, fin rot and popeye in freshwater aquariums.“ https://www.aquariumcoop.com/collections/fish-medicine/products/mardel-maracyn
  10. Hi Elf! I love your planted tank! What are those guys there in the second picture?! Some type of snail? Are those eggs on the glass? So cool
  11. Just wanted to post my fishy friends and share how excited am to have a place to share and ask questions that’s led by Cory/Aquarium co-op so I know everyone here is going to be welcoming, kind, and helpful. I started building a tank of guppies last year that failed but I’m JUST starting again now and all my fish are in quarantine with the med trio (made my tank super cloudy). I’ve been learning a lot from Cory’s videos and have begun the journey of planted tanks. I have a black Moore goldfish I saved from Walmart last year who’s gotten HUGE and absolutely gorgeous. I saw him getting eaten alive and sucked into the filter but he quickly grew back his whole left side of his body and he’s my buddy now- name: Toothless. In my 20 gal have 4 male guppies and many females (a breeder box and extra tank for the future fry), 3 corys (so far),and 1 lone back neon tetra survivor from last years petco mishap. Another 3.5 gal tank with a female koi betta, and my black Moore in a 10 gallon (outgrowing?!) I’m limited with space for my fish but I’m obsessed with having guppy fry and seeing their colors appear as they grow. For my future guppies I have a plan: I homeschool two boys and can set up a tank at their house for educational purposes and for a mixed guppy tank so I can breed up my favorite type at home. Can’t wait for fry!!! I have plans for my betta and goldfish tank too. I’m trying to take it slow as I learn... I only just learned about Malaysian wood... also, I noticed a TINY snail in my betta tank today from a local pond store where I bought fairy moss (mistake.. made a mess...fed to goldfish). Anyway, I can’t wait to see everyone’s tanks and fish! I’m sure we can all learn a lot from each other here where we couldn’t anywhere else. “If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.” -Loren Eiseley
  12. I agree about the nano pump... it’s completely silent 🙌🏻 I was extremely grateful for the switch since the old one sounded like an airplane engine. I use one and split it to two filters in my 20 gal but maybe you might need 2... if not you can save the extra for your quarantine tank.
