Just noticed today is it ick? The tank has a power head providing medium flow. Temp is around 75f. Nitrates 0 nitrites 0 ammonia 0 Buffer300 Hardness around 400 P.H. between 7.2 and 7.6 Yes my water is very hard, i have never had a problem with it, i have rams in water that is slightly harder right now. The tank has wood in it if that matters.

So i recently got a linear piston air pump from my grandpa. finally got it hooked up to all the sponges today and turned it on. At first, it works perfectly, i even had to open a few bleed offs. i come back ten or so minutes later and all of them have lost a significant amount of pressure, a few of them had even stopped completely. I checked the taps, all of them were on full blast. I checked all the joints in my pvc, the hose from the pump to pvc, etc. I felt the pump and it was pretty warm, but not burning me by any means. I turned the pump off and then back on about ten minutes later, and the exact same thing happened, I'm thinking it has something to do with it's warming up. But i thought that was something it was expected to do? What am i supposed to do? any suggestions?

Will this do? I dont ever test my water. Temp is 74f

one of my neon tetras has a white blister lookin thing on its upper lip. Is this a disease or maybe something else? If it is a disease what is it and how to treat?

I would like to find lids for medium sized aquariums that sit the long way so that it can be functional in my breeding rack. Any ideas? I would prefer not to make them myself cause those usually look trashy even wehn other ytrs do it. In the videos of deans fish room he has lids like this that look as if they were bought from a store. Anyone know where i can get those from?

Would rootless plants like mosses work? I just want everything to be easily accessible.

It's a rack, so the spots where lights are going to be mounted are about 7 inches from water surface. I was just referencing the sq footage so people wouldn't recommend one light thats sixty bucks. the shelves are 2' by 6' if that helps and there are three of them

SO i know people usually just go for like shoplights or something similar, but the all the ones i'm finding are like 2200 lumens? Ihave a feeling that that probably wouldn't be healthy for the fish and could cause stress but i also dont know how lumens work or if the fish would actually care. asking for advice from the people who have experience before i make dumb choices. I just need lighting thats bright enough to see all the fishes colors no plants. looking for something around 60 bucks or less to cover an area of about 36sq ft. tanks are 17 inches deep

what P.H. keeps it mostly nutral then? min is about 6.8 whats yours?

I'm not very concerned about their health. i simply wanted to know how often they spawn so i can plan on it. One of the concerns was because i heard that if you turn the heat up high, the fish will spawn more, but it may burn them out faster.

So im trying to set up a proper breeding rack for the first time, i was wondering if anyone knows of a good air pump that isn't super loud that could handle about 20 small aquariums? i know it cant be measured accurately this way but i dont know how else to measure it. P.S. i know that aquarium co op sells one, but i feel like its overkill and really would prefer not to spend 230 dollars on an air pump.

So from my understanding your goal is to get a bunch of shrimp and understand how/why they die, are finicky, or get stressed? also you are trying to recreate this in a 20 long right? What kind of filtration do you have in there? What's the scape like? I'd imagine that one of his big keys to success is the amount of plants that he has in there, plus it looks like he has a canister filter on there as well. In the picture I only see three shrimp. Surely there are some hiders, but there is a big difference (I think) between having a few shrimp for decoration and having a full colony. I will hopefully have a new aquarium rack available for my use in the next month or so, i"ll definately be breeding shrimp in there so i could experiment with them.

so i know that it is a terrible idea usually to keep multiple male bettas together. But lets say i really want to do it. would it be viable to have two or possibly three in a large tank? like a 40 breeder? it will be scaped with tons of plants and many line-of-sight blockers.

In everybody's opinion what is the best size of growout tank? i will have plenty of 20 highs, but from what i here it sounds like i'll need much bigger, they will be for all around stuff, including but not limited to: apistos, angelfish, and rainbowfish.

I'm trying to plan out the setup of my first breeder rack, however it is in a room that is on a slight incline, about 5 degrees, does this matter if the tanks are securely sitting on the shelf? or is there risk of them breaking still? if so how would i fix it short of levelling the room? could i just prop up some of the rack's legs?

Is you goal to see how colored up you can get them, how colorful you can get the colony through culling, or to produce as many as possible? sorry i'm just having a hard time understanding what your goal is here. Or are you just trying to figure out a neverfail care guide to preach to the world?
