  1. Yep it’s 800 feet plus. Basement of our home.
  2. Preparing to hook up an air loop to a linear piston pump (via the co op). I got 3/4 pvc for the loop, but upon further research sounds like 1in is more ideal. Is it going to be that much of a difference that I should go back to the store and get 1in? Fish room is 800 square feet
  3. I think it depends on where people are getting fish. I keep a lot of types of ricefish and have no problem selling them online and at swaps, but they don't sell in my LFS. We can always sell cories and plecos to our LFS stores. Nano fish like CPDS, clown Killis, and smaller rainbows are easy to breed and sell too. Great question. We think of it all the time since our goal is to breed fish and then sell them. Sometimes we start a breeding project of something we find to be cool, but have a smaller market. Other times we can't make enough!
  4. I use it. It tends to make my water cloudy (I put in small spheres, maybe 1/4 inch all around). My fish don't swarm it, and it doesn't hold it's shape in the water column for long. Maybe a couple of minutes. Maybe I got a bad batch.
  5. @JakeHThis is an epiphany, thank you! I knew I was missing something simple, and this is it. Thank you so much. The tanks will be the same size on each rack. But one way to get around it is to put more than one tap on your larger tanks (e.g., two water inputs on a 40 breeder, 1 on a 20 high) for more consistent water changes. Thanks to the community again! Blake.
  6. @Dean’s FishroomThank you! And thanks @Zenzofor tagging in Dean. D Dean, do you use right angle press fittings as well to get water flowing to a single rack at a time? I'm trying to wrap my head around how to fill one rack per solenoid. Again, thank you! Appreciate the help. Blake.
  7. I've been zooming into all of Dean's fish room tours, but haven't been able to figure out the following: -What brand of pump does Dean use in his bucket? Can anyone recommend one similar? -I see the solenoid valve outputs to 1/4 fridge tubing, which then Ts off to individual tanks. How does he route it? I remember one video where he has the 1/4 tubing filling up a PVC tube, others he has going directly to the tank. How does he plumb it so he can do 1 rack at a time, rather than 1 row around the fish room? Hopefully this question makes sense. Thanks for any help! Blake.
  8. I agree with plugging it in, and then using something to press down on the impeller. I usually use some aquascape tongs
  9. I was having trouble with eggs developing fungus in the Ziss egg tumbler. Recently came up with the idea put some filter floss under the sponge it comes with. Keeps miscellaneous fish food and debris out of the hatcher. First hatch with the floss was a success!
