  1. Currently or ever? 🤣 I currently have 18x 20 gallon ...3x 5 gallon...1.5 gallon cube and a 150 gallon pond.
  2. Nope...set the temp then unplug and plug into controller. If your desired is 77 then you want the alarm set (in my opinion) at 5 deg above or below the desired temp. 5 degrees either up or down will not hurt the fish but give you plenty of time to fix the issue.
  3. 3 females for one male....tell me again why humans don't practice this ?!?!? 🤣 If I suddenly dissappear...my wife read that comment😱
  4. Well your tanks was never fully cycled. Your first bit of bio load came from the mystery snail which is very small. You had the snail for a week and then added 3 fish. then one week later another 2 fish. You were increasing the bio load faster than the bacteria could multiply to keep up until we are here currently. I would do daily water changes at about 1/3 to 1/2 to remove the ammonia and keep dosing for the full tank the neutralizer to protect your fish and snail.
  5. temp calibration should be set to 0. Unless you tried to check the calibration using one of the 2 options we are going to assume they are calibrated correctly for now. You need to set the heaters individually BEFORE they are plugged into the controller to 81 deg. This way technically the heaters are always on. When plugged into the controller the controller will be controlling power to the heaters and controlling temp that way.
  6. Ok...first things first....Take a deep breath!! Good...now how old is this tank? You said its fairly new. What you are experiencing is coming from the fish and snails as a complete bioload. REMOVING THE SNAILS WILL NOT HELP. Your tank needs to cycle. You have alot of critters (5 fish a mystery and the ramshorns) all at once added to a brand new tank. The first things I would do is a water change to bring down the ammonia and then treat with a water conditioner to neutralize the ammonia You are going to have to do daily water changes and treating with neutralizer to make sure the ammonia does not harm the fish. Your cycle is going to take longer because of the water changes but eventually it will cycle
  7. WOW thats awesome!! To have a score of a beautiful piece of wood and then to have a tank actually big enough to utilize it well...ok I am officially envious! PS You officially suck!🤣
  8. I have never used one personall and I believe they work quite well from what I have researched about them. But in my opinion...they are way to expensive for any large number of tanks. They cost as much as a small HOB and you still need an air source to run it and no option for any chemical filtration unlike with a HOB. Its basically a very large sponge filter .... SO if thats the case Id rather run a large sponge filter at 1/3 the cost. I do know that Dean uses them in Some of his tanks...not sure why some and not others. Probably hast to do with the breeding requirements but dont quote me on the. Cory doesn't not use them at all and told us so in one of his videos. I am curious to her @Zenzo thought on them and what types of filtration he has going in his fish room.
  9. The big number in the middle is the current temp of the tank. If you want to maintain 77 degrees you need the T1 to be set at 77 and the T2 to be set at 73.
  10. My thoughts as well. How long has the aquarium been set up is my question
  11. The rubber inserts that the impeller has on both sides tends to wear and cause friction. When they get stuck a lot that you have to nudge...replacing the rubber end caps has always solved the issue for me. Last thing I want is to have the power go out for 10 min when not home then come back on but the filter doesn't start running again.
  12. How long ago did you move him from QT and he has been in his new home? Its possible that he is just a bit stressed and needs time to get adjusted. I would turn out the lights for a day or so and let him get acclimated to his new environment and make sure he is eating. Just Wait and watch.
  13. What the hell size tank do you have that fit that huge marvelous piece of driftwood😲
  14. Im thinking @Torrey could use this for sure...😂
  15. There is gunk in the impeller assembly. You will have to take it apart clean it and put it back together and it will run great!
  16. I think that Cory at the end was in Nirvana😂
  17. I would read @Fish Folk Ram breeding journal. He has done a great job detailing his experienced breeding the GBR.
  18. In my 20 gallon cube the only black gravel I could find was the Glow gravel in black. It has been in the tank for a few months now and the water is crystal clear. I am hoping you find the cause but not sure its the gravel.
  19. I like it...its not too dense. Guppy grass can get very dense but it is awesome for the fry to be like that.
  20. While I have been an aquarist on and off for most of my life…I have been an avid modeler all my life. This is a area where some of my modeling tools help with my aquariums. Meet the typhoon mixer… it is an industrial mixer used to mix modeling paint. But it also has an adapter for test tubes. No tendinitis in these arms😁
  21. Is that water sprite or wisteria growing like that....it is very nice looking!
  22. I would not leave the rock wool in the tank forever....it likes to disintegrate ....dont ask how I know this!
  23. I have also found that mystery snails love to eat the stuff. It is funny seeing them lined up at the top mowing thru some duckweed. Hey mortie...munch munch munch...hows the salad....very fresh today...leonard....munch munch munch...very fresh.
  24. Florida FLag fish eat up hungrily. Amanos usually will if you dont heavily feed them fish food.
