  1. Once you have a good algae source built up 2 in a 10 gallon Would be plenty
  2. Wow ….we have had such amazing conversation here today I completely forgot what the original topic was…😂🤣😂
  3. Nobody's older than @Dean’s Fishroom....when God said let there be fish....Dean went and bred them.
  4. Im telling you!! I have a whole house generator.....here in hurricane alley...you better have one. As I was building the fish room I said that I was going to make sure the fish room would have double back up n the generator buy using 2 separate circuits. Planned it all out...built it and everything is good to go. I swear to the heavens above....one week after I brought tank number 20 online in the fish room. While I was at work we had a huge thunderstorm pass thru and the power went out because I got the notification. To my horror the generator never came on. The power was out for 3 hours and no pumps air or water or anything was running for 3 hours. I just knew I was going home to dead bodies everywhere. I got lucky and didnt lose any fish....upon inspection I found that the batter for the generator...yes it starts using a car battery had a short in the cell. It would measure 12 volts but no amps. So the generator would not turn on. Well I got that fixed and went out about bought not one....not 2 ....but 3 UPS battery backups. They are daisy chained together and the central air pump that runs the fish room is plugged into it. If the power goes out then the UPS keeps it running when the first one runs out of power the second one continues until its dead...then the third one takes over. I have tested this and now I can go 15 hours with no power and the sponge filters keep right on going. Now the likely hood of losing power...losing the generator....and all 3 UPS systems.....this should be foolproof....of course now that I said that....good ole Murphy is going to show me where I screwed up....Just you watch!
  5. Why do you need to take out the substrate. Fr the Corys? If thats what your thinking....You will not have an issue!
  6. Quoting Searer ehhh....yeah I know that song. Back in the day I used a home made hatcher for brine shrimp and I did Ok with it. My original try was sea monkeys....yes I had those I got for Christmas one year right next to the wooden car kit. Yeah I know that eye roll ...my Daughters have down to an artform. Im sure the grandchild I have on the way that I just found out about will do it even better! I have never done grindle worms or white worms or vinegar eels....although I am thinking I need to give them a try. I dont think you have to refrigerate the white worms. Oh yeah and I use walked to and from school....in the winter...with no coat....or shoes......up hill .....BOTH WAYS !!🤪
  7. Wrong....so so so wrong...🤣 I am military folk and I swear the more backup systems I put into place I feel like im just daring "Murphy" to prove where I screwed up....put nothing in place and nothing ever seems to go wrong. I still have some but nothing like I ever used to🙄
  8. @Odd Duck You got this....I believe in you! 😁 Not really but it sounded good😒
  9. Exactly. I have 18 Aqueon tanks all 20 gallons or less. I need 2x 40 gal breeders for fry grow out tanks and don't know what I'm going to do for those. I might (unless I can find another option) take the chance on the Aqueon only because they will be in a fish room with concrete floors so no damage...worse I would lose is the grow out fry. But I will never go with them for ANYTHING LARGER.
  10. Excuses excuses....your not older than I am. Salt doesnt splatter anywhere for me so if it is your doing something strange. you need all of 10 square inches to set up a hatchery.....hell @Fish Folk has one of the most basic setups there is for next to no cost and even he will tell you how great it is to have fresh live food. and every other Wednesday when you come home wrecked...you just dont make any then and recover....then get back to it...LOL
  11. No its not I swear....at least not for me. The only problem I seem to have with it is that after harvesting I clean everything and go thru setting it up again with water and salt and forgetting to put the eggs in.🤣 Done that I dont know how many time🤦‍♂️
  12. When I saw that on the Aqueon 40 breeder there is a bow to the tank front and back glass of almost 1/8 inch and that is their design spec....now I know that doesnt seem like a lot but if your going to go without a center brace how much more could it have cost to go 1/16 thicker on the front and back panel glass?!?
  13. I personally would not have an Aqueon tank above a 40 breeder and that one is even pushing it for my comfort level! A lot of people will tell me im crazy but that my choice. DOnt ask me who I would use...all of the names from long ago have either all disappeared or been taken over by lesser quality companies!
  14. Just curious because every tank I feed BBS eventually gets hydra. My swordtails do not eat it. Some of my guppies do I have see it. The little guys are stupid cute and just dont want anything to happen to them.
  15. WOW...yep need more coffee...in fact pour me some while your at it please!
  16. Now that is the funniest and saddest thing I have read all day....YOU WIN!!!🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭
  17. Yeah My fish room air temp is at 80 deg so all of the tanks water stays rock solid at 80 deg. No heaters needed but sure do need some A/C ...lol So they wont even eat frozen Blood worms....that really sucks...LOL I was going to pick some up and give it a try....couldnt hurt its not like I dont have 20 other tanks to feed it to if they dont eat it.
  18. I am looking into getting a small fridge for the fish room so I can try black worms. I asked Upper Management about me keeping worms in the fridge....thats where she drew the proverbial line...LOL Told me it was her or the worms....I asked of she would be moving close by....she didnt find it funny for some odd reason🤷‍♂️
  19. ROOMATES....THATS JUST WRONG....🤣
  20. Does anybody know if a Pea Puffer will eat Hydra?
  21. It is a bit on the pricy side but it works so well and makes it so easy. I have alot of fry tanks....with A LOT of fry and I am running two to keep up with demand. There are some things that are just worth the price because of the ease they provide. Just what works for me.
