  1. Glad you like this hobby! Welcome to the forum.
  2. Welcome to the forum glad to have you!
  3. @Odd Duck I got ember tetras with the puffer good thing I didn't quarantine them together!
  4. I would think it would be ok a single oto can sure eat a lot of algae though I think Cory has mentioned he has 6 or 8 in his 800 gallon so it doesn't take many to eat a ton of algae. I would be most concerned about whether there's enough algae in the 5 gallon to support an oto.
  5. I've kept them twice before but only by themselves. Thanks for the responses.
  6. Has anyone been successful in keeping pea puffers In a community setting. I impulse bought a pea puffer and the only tank I have open when it's done quarantining is the tank I had planned on being a shrimp tank would they be ok together?
  7. This pic would be great! Definetly would be funny for someone brand new to the forum that didn't see that video they'd be like this is a very odd group of people.
  8. Like Guppysnail said mine can spawn once a week back to back weeks but then they could go a month without spawning it is kind of random. Get them fat and happy and they will spawn more often for you if that is your goal.
  9. @s1_ I will have to think about how to set up the intakes and output now I had a HOB and 2 medium sponge filters but no real need now for the sponge filters besides oxygen maybe I will do what you have done thanks for the info!
  10. I have a 75g that has decently heavy glass tops and I just replaced my HOB that the glass used to rest on with a FX4 so now if I open up the top it just rests on my fluval 2.0 which I don't like I don't want to harm the light what contraptions have you MacGyver's come up with?
  11. Thanks a lot @Guppysnail! Thankfully the brushes are affordable.
  12. @Guppysnail Ah that makes perfect sense and yep I was sure glad I went in today can't beat that deal!
  13. Couldn't believe when I took my dog to pick out her bday toys at a national chain pet store fx4s were on sale for 199.99 and fx6s for 249.99 plus an extra $25 off so I picked one up. My first question is, is there any threat if the power goes out of this flooding at all? Second question is why is there a flow valve on the return for the intake I would think there would only be one for the output. Last question is there was a oring tying the hose around the cannister is this a replacement oring or just for shipping? So far I am very impressed with it. It replaced a 10 year old HOB that was on its last leg that I had to pray started back up after every water change but definetly not perfect can't wait to see how I like it in the long run.
  14. I tried once before I had methylene blue and they fungus'd up. Bad part is, is they usually lay the eggs when I'm at work and the bottomless pits that are red wag platys destroy them by the time I get home. I just need to make spawning mops.
  15. Has anyone ever thought of putting something over corydora eggs to protect them? My Cory's always lay their eggs on the glass and the other fish in the tank go to town on them but if there were something covering then perhaps they would have a chance.
  16. Welcome to the forum, I hope you fall in love with this great hobby as we all have.
  17. Patience, patience, patience. Don't get in over your head, I got burnt out after only a couple months because I hyperfocused on this hobby a bit too much. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Take more pictures! I still haven't started a journal because I never take any pictures and by the time I set a tank up I have 0 pictures of it. 🤦‍♂️
  18. We will hope for the best then! Good luck keep us posted.
  19. When I got my second bottle of easy green I noticed my original bottles pump was defective I was like holy cow that was a ton of fertilizer when I first used the new bottle so it is a thing unfortunately.
  20. Took my plants 3 months to start growing back patience may be key here. Know if you still have good roots? If so you should be ok.
  21. I tried raising just my KH before and I found it a lot of work and really unnecessary. A lot easier to find fish and plants that work in your water good luck.
  22. Welcome to the forum! We all like to see pictures of your tank too if you're willing.
