  1. All parameters are fine: pH: 7.6 High Range pH: 7.4 Nitrate: 10ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Ammonia: 0ppm Calcium: 160ppm GH: 125 ppm KH 125 ppm - I never see her poop. I'll try to notice something. - I didn't add anything new to the tank. The next day after I posted the previous picture she got much better! I could barely see any volume (I hadn't done anything). Then it started growing again. Please see attached pictures. I'm suspecting that when I feed her with blood worms the situation gets worse. Any idea what it might be?
  2. Please help! In the last 24 to 48 hours this YOYO Loach became ultra bloated (or perhaps swollen)! "She" was a little bit bloated for a while now and about 1 week ago I treated the whole tank with General Cure, it seems helped reduce the bloat but she is like this. She was pretty normal 2 days ago, I even considered that she was recovered! The tank is a 55g community high tech setup. The parameters are all zero. pH is around 7.0. Any idea what this may be? PS: Sorry about the quality of the photos.. The yoyo seems to be hiding there. I'll try to get better pics.
  3. Parameters: - pH: 7.6 - High Range pH: 8.2 - Ammonia: < 0.25ppm - Nitrite: 0ppm - Nitrate: < 20ppm - KH: 3-4 drops - GH: 7-8 drops Looks like the problem is the pH, what do you think? I ran out of CO2 and the pH raised a lot. This tank has been running for about 1 year now, just recently I started having problem; right about the time I ran out of CO2!
  4. Hi folks. I've a community 45g tank where I have 3 Angel fishes among others. I've noticed since about 2 weeks ago that my angel fishes aren't swimming around as they used to. They mostly just stay still around the corners of the tank and vertically on the middle. I've measured ammonia, nitrate and nitrite and all is low. However, I'm sure there is something going on as the smaller angel fish died one week ago and this night a male sword tail fish died. Any suggestion what this might be and/or what to check? I'll measure all parameters today again and do a water change and post the results here later..
  5. My prettiest one right now is Ludwigia Palustris:
  6. What's the best light I can get for ~$200 for a 4ft (length) x 1ft (wide) x 1.5ft (height) tank? I'm thinking to buy the Fluval 3.0 48" light but I'm wondering if for about the same amount of money I can get a better one? The main goal with the tank is to grow all kinds plants so the customization feature available in the Fluval 3.0 is really a great point.
  7. These appeared recently on my cichlid tank. I was freaked out at first but later found that 1) they usually are harmless and 2) they are fish food! Some people recommended using Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of them, however I think that will also kill beneficial bacteria in the tank so I actually didn't do anything besides vacuuming and changing water more often for a week and a half may be.
  8. Thank you guys! I was able to disconnect the tank and release the pressure. I disconnected the tank with the valve still showing 40 psi. It just make a gassy noise but nothing more than that. The pressure valve just showed 0 psi after I connected the regulator to electricity and opened both valves.
  9. @ChemBob - Yeah, it's a paintball tank.
  10. Here's a picture. Hope it helps.
  11. @ererer - I corrected the link. @Schwack - The valve that moves the needle is fully open. The knob that increase the bubbles seems to not be working properly because I can turn it indefinitely. Do I need to plug the regulator on the power to release the gas or does it also work disconnected?
  12. Hey folks, I just bought a second hand version of this co2 regulator: https://www.amazon.com/FZONE-Aquarium-Regulator-Compatible-Paintball/dp/B08P5FKQDT/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=FZONE&qid=1619284323&sr=8-1 and and I'm trying to remove the co2 tank to refill it and I've a question. The "Output pressure gauge" is stuck at 40 and doesn't go below that. Using the know I can increase the pressure but I can't turn the knob enough to make the gauge go below 40. My questions are: 1) do I need to get the pressure to 0 to before disconnecting the tank? 2) any idea why the pressure doesn't go down? TIA!
  13. I'm building an aquascape and I want to go with a canister filter because of the aesthetics effect and the efficiency. Moreover, because I like to build stuff and want to try it 🙂 I'm just a bit concerned because so far I'm only seeing positive comments about this and perhaps I can just invest some more money and get a branded filter.
  14. DIY canister filter. Looks simple, cheap and effective. Thoughts? What are the down sides?
  15. Hey folks, I just got gifted a 54" corner tank and I'm thinking that I'll need to discard everything that I had planned, given the characteristics of the new tank. This new tank is much more deeper and wider. The lid that came with it is similar to this one: https://www.fishtanksdirect.com/aqueon-glass-top-54-gallon-bowfront-29654.aspx . I want to grow a carpet on this new tank with dwarf baby tears. I saw Cory review of Fluval 3.0 which seems to be the light that everybody like.. BUT.. the PAR that he measured on the 3.0 is lower than the 2.0. So my question is: What do you recommend for a 23" deep tank?
  16. I'd like a digital water parameters test. Just drop some ml's of water (+ maybe some 'reagent') in the device and get some numbers out of it. I'm colorblind and it's quite hard to read the color-based results... 😞
  17. Thanks a lot Daniel! How much "PAR" do you think you'd get at the bottom with just one light? Also, what plant is that in the picture? Can you tell me what substrate and/or fertilizer you use and how well did the plant do?
  18. I've been reading and watching a lot of videos about aquascaping, planting, etc. and I'm learning a lot. However, there is a lot to learn and so many options to choose from. I'd very much appreciate your opinion what are some *good* options for a light for a tank with these specs: 30" wide, 18" tall, 12" depth. I'll be growing plants that require medium light. TIA!
  19. > Both of those fish will need a much larger tank I would I've rehome them That's exactly what I'm trying to, but so far without any luck.
  20. It's a 29 gallon tank. It's a common pleco of about 4". The Oscar has about 2.5".
  21. I recently acquired a second hand tank with two fishes: a Cichlid Oscar and a Pleco. The Oscar is aggressive and keeps doing all sorts of things that you expect a Cichlid to do. The thing is I'm unable to add any other fish to my tank because certainly the Oscar will kill or injure the new fish! I've tried to sell the fish and also to give it for free on Facebook but no one wants it! 😞 Any suggestion what can I do in this situation? I'm even thinking to go to a fish store and try to give the fish for free haha Sorry if this post is not allowed here. Please delete it..
  22. I bought an aquaclear recently (my first HOB filter) and returned it the next day. I couldn't make it prim - yes, I poured a lot of water into it and even waited a long time.. tried a lot of things and it didn't work! After some research I found this is a common problem with aquaclear filters. Just saying...
