  1. Got me thinkin bout a water bed now hahaha! But thank you!
  2. I live on the third floor of an apartment building and currently have a 40 and a 20 set up in the spare room of the apartment. I was thinking about setting another 40 up in the same room. At what point should I be concerned about weight being on the third floor? Ive seen loads of conflicting information online so I wanted to ask yall what you have done.
  3. Every time I dose Para cleanse, I get the exact same thing. The next day it gets super cloudy, then over the next day or two it clears up. I always wait it out and it seems harmless. Seems to work as best I can tell.
  4. I have a group of rams I’m keeping and spawning at 79-80 degrees that live with a school of praecox rainbows. Very good looking combo.
  5. I just noticed in my planted community tank that’s there’s a considerable amount of Planaria climbing around the glass in the back of the tank. Should I be worried? I’ve heard people say they are the worst things to ever exist and others who don’t care about them. I’m curious everyone’s thoughts. The tank is a 40 breeder ran off a sponge filter. It’s stocked with 4 GBRs and 10-15 dwarf neon rainbows. There’s also a massive colony of cherry shrimp and MTS patrolling the bottom. Thoughts?
  6. If you were to put several different species of rainbow fish in tank with a few spawning mops would you get spawns from both? Or would one species predate too much on the others eggs in the mop? Im planning on getting a group of praecox rainbows and Celebes rainbows to spawn but not sure if I could house them both in a 40 breeder.
  7. As the title says what is your favorite live food to feed and why? I just ordered some micro worms and vinegar eels and am super excited to try those out!
  8. Yea I wanted to have em out about a week or two ago but one of them had some weird fungus growing on it’s fins so I had to hit them with another round of the med trio. Finished that second treatment three days ago and they all look good so it’s time for them to move out.
  9. Apparently a pair decided to lay eggs three days before they are out of QT! Slight issue with them doing this now they are bulling the others due to them being in a small QT tank. Will probably move em over sooner than planned and pull the eggs to avoid as much aggression as possible.
  10. Week and half or so of them in QT and 4 of them are doing great! The one male unfortunately has some weird fin fungus issue so I’ve treated again with the med trio. It’s been getting better the last few days so that’s a plus. Safe to say they are real tired of being in a 10g haha they chase each other around quite often. Hopefully once this clears up I can move them in soon!
  11. I moved it down and cleared all the air in it and there were a fair amount of bubbles in it. However about 15 min later it was doing it again and filled with air. Very strange.
  12. In the last few days I’ve been having a unique problem with an ACO 100W heater I have. It’s been on a 40B for about three weeks set at 74 degrees. And for some reason recently when the heating element is on it makes a sizzling noise. When I unplug or turn the temp down to make the heating element turn off the sound goes away. The tank prior to that had a 50W ACO heater in it that never had that issue. (I upgraded in preparation to crank the temp to the 80s for some rams.) Any thoughts? Here’s a link to a video with the sound.
  13. I actually just noticed this same issue this morning on my 100w ACO heater! The heater is set to 74 but the display reads 78 sometimes and 75 others but the heating light never turns on. My room temp is in the high 60s. I have a 50w one running in another tank and have had it for a while with no issue tho.
  14. Thats definitely not ideal! Ive made a similar mistake in the past. What i did was immediately pull out a chunk of water then change in some warmer water. This brought the tank temp to about 6 under where it normally ran. fish were really stressed out and i did have some shrimp die but overall, most made it. I could see an argument though to not do that to avoid shcoking them again. All that to say I'd bet most will survive but some of the weaker ones may not. Hopefully they all make it im sorry that happened!
  15. On the back of the heater in between the suction cups it should say.
  16. It will probably survive just will take a long time to look like anything. Id reach out to customer service and inquire about a refund/reship due to it not arriving healthy.
  17. 1. Albino Corys with swordtails and mollies. 2. My newly scaped 40 breeder. My first real attempt and scaping and i think it looks pretty great! 3. Found the coop youtube when i was just starting out and have been a member of the forum since the early days. (Only recently started posting tho) 4. Try to set up all tanks to be low maintenance and full of natural plants with lower stocking so i dont have to change water as much. (Im lazy with that lol) 5. Tips to keep the cost down. Im currently in college so finding ways to lower costs are very important. 6. My Schodenti Puffer. I just re homed him recently and regret the decision. 7. Depends. Generally, tho once or twice a month. I do have a tank that i change weekly because the fish in it are in QT. 8. Rack of 20s. So many different possibilities with multiple tanks. I also love smaller fish. 9. today. I usually do everyday. 10. A mix of all the extreme foods.
  18. In QT they are at 82 right now so I’ll definitely push the main tank up a bit when they get in there! With the others being in as dithers do you think it could be a problem with aggression or due to the larger volume of water it should be fine? planning to do a mix of extreme krill flake, bloodworms, and frozen brine shrimp. I want to try my hand at live BBS but just haven’t pulled the trigger on the supplies yet haha.
  19. After months of deliberation and preparation I have decided to try my hand and breeding some German Blue Rams. My goal is less to pump out as many as possible and more to have a good looking tank that will also produce fry. Just picked up a group of 5 from my LFS to try and get a pair or two out of them. It looks like I got 1M and 4F so I may go try and get another male. Here’s a pic of them I’m QT. They are currently getting the med trio. And I’m pretty sure they have some form of internal parasite because they have long stringy white poop. However they are all looking pretty happy and healthy otherwise and pretty active. The winning pair will get move into a 40 breeder I set up last month. The tank currently has a large population of Malaysian trumpet snails and cull cherry shrimp. (The shrimp will be a nice live food for them ha!). Here’s a pic of the tank: The tank has a host of random plants. All sorts of crypts, swords, anubias, and various grasses like Val. Will probably add some dither fish of some sort down the line. Haven’t decided as of yet which would be best. My water conditions are pH: 7.4 GH: 200 KH: 150 Temp: 79 Going to document the progress here and any and all feedback is much appreciated!
  20. Ordered some Staurogyne Repens, some micro sword, some Monte Carlo. And I think ima try to order some tiger lotus and maybe a few other red plants soon. Got a few of a lot of things to try out and see what I like!
  21. Actually, a very good bit right here. Algae is just part of a healthy ecosystem there is too much focus on eradicating it all with all sorts of chemicals. Taking the time to balance your tank is the best way to eliminate excess algae.
  22. You may be able to add a few ok but personally I would wait. I’d want to have zero ammonia consistently then start to add livestock. Can’t hurt to let it mature just a little more.
  23. This! The coop YouTube videos really helped me understand the basics! Will recommend their videos to all beginners!!
