  1. Has anyone had an interaction problem with lead Plant Weights and shrimp? And if so, what did you do to fix it? Prep-purchase, I did as much googling as I could and the overwhelming response was lead weights specifically sold to hold down aquarium plants are completely safe with shrimps including Amano Shrimp. I used six strips and within a few days, all dozen-ish Amano shrimps went missing or died. I'd like to know what is likely the cause... hoping to rule out the weights. Unfortunately, no other changes were made to this tank in the recent few months so the weights are my only suspect. Post incident, I did find a short blurb that claimed lead weights are fine except when CO2 is used but no other information or reference was given. Any experienced insights on any of this would be very much appreciated. The tank is 75 Gallons, heavily planted, light CO2, Aquarium Co-op Easy Green & Easy Iron dosing, a mixed bag of ±50 small- & ±8 medium-sized community fish that are thriving, tons of tiny pond snails (that were unaffected), UV light bulb inside hang-on-back filter. The tank is about 8-years old, well-established that up until this occurrence, has thrived. At the very least, Thank You for reading. 🙂
  2. Thanks everyone! 🙂 I installed it this morning. 👍
  3. Hello: I have a UV light inside my HOB filter for my small hospital/quarantine tank, and it has made the water very clear and I assume clean. (I turn it off when medicating.) I'm thinking of adding a UV LIGHT to my main tank which is moderately planted but I haven't found any reliable source confirming or denying whether this is a good combination. My tank has CO2 & an airstone, and there is a dosing machine for Seachem Flourish & Trace but I could put the UV light on a timer so it's off during the dosing plus a few hours afterwards. If anyone has any experience or knowledge with UV lights and planted tanks, would you mind sharing? Thank you. 🙂
  4. I've been using this for a couple years and love it... each plug is independently controlled either manually or with user-defined schedules via a smart-phone app. They also make a three outlet version if you need less and single outlet modules if you just need one or extras. It's a bit pricey but if you add up the cost of a surge protector+ 6 individual timers, it's a decent value, plus you get integration. My only wishlist item would be USB ports that shared the same benefits--USBs are always on. Good luck. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G95FFN3
  5. The Red Lizard Whiptail Catfish... was my favorite little buddy in my tank. I only had one but it passed away after a couple years and I've been unable to find another one or two locally--these seem to be rare where I am. One of these days, I'll get a couple from Aq. Co-op (which is where I got this pic.).
