  1. Oh, that's good to know, thank you! The older fry are about 2-3 weeks and the younger are 1-2 weeks. Crossing my fingers for more dark colors then haha. Unfortunately I don't have enough tanks for each pair, but I think I'll move the regular rams to their own community tank with some lampeye kilifish and guppies. That way my main display can have just black rams. Appreciate ya!
  2. Only time will tell I suppose, I'll update ya haha. So far I'm not seeing any fry that look dark/black in any sense, most look like normal rams or possibly gold. I was sorely disappointed when they paired up with opposite color morphs, I contemplated rehoming or moving the regular rams to a tank to themselves. If they continue to pair in their current setting, I might do that!
  3. Wonderful write-up! Very interesting findings with the gold rams from black parents and variations, as well as how they pair. Interestingly, in my 48 gallon tank, I had a BMxRF (Regular) and RMxBF pair up much to my dismay and yield me two batches of fry. They haven't colored up yet, but wondering if they'll end up being just regular rams since the black is recessive? I'd also recommend Lowell's Fish Lab on youtube, he's an excellent resource for breeding.
  4. Unfortunately, it absolutely is. They can buy line bred/specific guppy strains from wholesalers most likely for a similar price and make huge margins on them as well.
