Woke up and had a dead guppy tank. my next step is to sterilize my sponge filters and equipment within the tank to start over. my question is what should i do with my aquarium sand? is there a method to sterilizing it?

I do have half a pound of crushed coral in my HOB filter 👍🏽. That makes me feel better, I feeling like I was doing something wrong with water changes and always having nitrates. I have just always felt like I was doing something wrong or if my test strip reading could be better. Thank you for the posts.

Trying to have a generally suitable community tank which to my understanding most fish/shrimp at 6.5-8 and my ph has been below 6.5. i posted also seeing if any of my test strip points seem out of wack or if they are normal. Example: always having nitrates and never nitrites in a cycled tank, but that could be ez green dose?

20gal long planted, no co2, cycled ( more than 6m) i recently had to move my tank from one side of the house to the other, in doing so I replanted my plants and moved the substrate around. I noticed that when I test with the strips, I always have some pink in the nitrates, zero nitrite always. I’m trying to get my PH higher because it always seems to be below 6.4, so I added crush coral recently and the pH has been on the rise thankfully. my tank has driftwood and cholla wood, I’ve tried using wondershells but they only seem to bring the hardness up, never ph. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, any advice will be greatly appreciated. i have panda corys, and neon tetras, Amano shrimp and I had some cherry shrimp but they didn’t seem to survive the move. Also I’m sure the water parameters were not suitable.

update : fish finally delivered after 9 days 2 of the panda corys were completely DOA and the remaining 4 pandas are struggling heavily. I thought 3 of the Pygmy were DOA but 1 has died since and the remaining 5 are also struggling heavily. all the fish are swimming sideways or tend to swim heavy to one side of their body. Or they will jolt across the tank only to sit for awhile in place. not sure what I should do for them. Suggestions? My seller is welllknown and has a 3 day claim policy but I highly doubt they will make it, the fish

It will be now 8 days minimum in the shipping process in the box. 12 catfish, 6 panda, 6 Pygmy. My question is what would be the best course of action with the survivors if there is any. I don’t have a established hospital tank unfortunately. I do have a extra sponge filter in my established tank though. seller has already been in contact with me with refund for DOA fish so I’m fine on the seller front. Just needed advice on what todo to with the survivors. thanks

My package still shows delivery date by today but the tracking shows “In Transit, Arriving Late Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility. ” I think there goes all possibilities of survivors 😭
