  1. Finally I was able to get some wigglers and in a week or so will be getting ready to feed. Does anyone have Vinegar Eels so I can get a culture going? I live in Bothell/Mill Creek but willing to drive and meet up.
  2. Also another way to get rid of them if you wanted and make money is to sell them on OfferUp or Craigslist. Most LFS (local fish stores) charge $1.00 per snail. So while the local store said you can "donate" some they will end up re-selling them to people that want to start a colony or as food for puffers. When I had my puffer I was purchasing them from others on offer up for $0.25 a piece until my colony finally kicked off. If I was you I would take them to my local store in your case Nemo's and ask for a credit for each one you give them. So maybe ask for $0.05 - $0.10 cents per one and get credit for fish or more food for the future. But that's my .02 cents or half a snail 😉
  3. Changing the cartridge in the HOB (Hang on the back) shouldn't have an effect on your fish and their behavior. So I would say first thing to do is test your water and parameters. Second have you changed anything else or when was your last water change? If your only concern is the filter, what size tank do you have? You also don't want to just swap to a new filter like the mentioned above without running it for a while with your old to build up biological bacteria. I would suggest hot rodding the HOB for now like mentioned above and that with a good CoOp intake filter might be more than enough and save you from spending money on un-needed items. There are a lot of variables to why your fishes behavior has changed so its not the easiest question to answer. Hope some of this helps
  4. So, I have never really thought about it, but as we know our aquariums over time create enough biological bacteria to accommodate the fish load after cycling. Regardless of what type of filtration you're using. My question is how long does it take to re-level back out after adding more fish? As an example. I have a 125 gallon aquarium fully planted with sand substrate and Mopani wood. I run a Marineland 360 canister filter with only the first sponge filter and the rest bio rings. I also use a CoOP Large sponge pre-filter on the intake and a large CoOp in tank filter. The tank fully cycled and after, I added 106 Neon Green Tetras (Paracheirodon Simulans), 1 Siamese Algae Eater (Crossocheilus oblongus), and 5 Green Flame Tetras (Aphyocharax rathbuni). I feed twice a day of multiple mixed foods Bug Bites, Hikari Daphnia, Hikari Bloodwoorms, ect. The tank has been running great with no losses tested every Sunday and with a 5-10% water change. Ok, now back to the question. If I was to add let's say another 10 Corydoras and a Leopard Frog Pleco. What is the time line for the biological media to catch up and become level again? Is that even a question that can be answered? Is there a ballpark number? I was just curious as I have "knock on wood" been pretty successful with planted community tanks and never really thought about when adding more fish. I usually just add what I feel looks good and call it a day. If I had a well established 40 gallon I may add 100 Neon tetras over a period of a few months a few other clean up crew members and even though that's over the 1" per gallon rule it always worked and was very healthy to the point I would have full size (rare in my opinion Neon Tetras 2"-2.5"). Sorry for such a long winded question, but wanted to get others feedback that have been in the hobby for sometime.
  5. I paid $9 a piece so not really breaking the bank.
  6. Just picked up three of these little guys (CoryDoras Similis) and have 7-8 more on order for my 125. I never really paid attention to these little guys until watching Corys videos. I would usually buy 3-5 Julii's and call it a day but never knew they loved being in big groups.
