  1. I broke that tank down already. I am searching for a new place to live at the moment. Once I get moved in a can go from there… id like to go up to a 30 gallon so I can have more options but I’ll have to wait to see the space I have to work with… thank you all, Annie if anyone live in Lake Tahoe and has a house me and my dogs can rent… or Carson city🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🐟🐟🐟 im desperate to move forward
  2. Well since I’ll be starting over from scratch I can do different substrates… what about floating plants or bulbs ?. I really want a lotus . the only thing I kept was my FluvalSmart Aquasky light which I believe is pretty decent . Am I correct? And I also kept my airstone. how big of a tank would I need for that many goldfish?
  3. Thank you all for your suggestions. After researching there is no good place for my aquarium in the current house I’m in. I’m waiting till I have my own place and will make sure I get the proper size aquarium . And want to have 8 goldfish and one black . Here’s where I get to practice patience. And begin planning for what I really want… A beautiful planted tank with those fish I mentioned. Because I am studying Jyotish and learning about energies I am wanting to follow the rule of Vastu. thanks again. I’ll probably be reaching out when time gets closer ✌🏾🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟Annie

I decided to go buy a 20 gallon in a hexagon shape. And it’s 24.4 tall. 19 inches wide.. I want to set up this kit . it’s top fin captivate. Tonight with some plants . I have some time to think about fish in this different shape. And it won’t be in the kitchen anymore which I’ve heard I’d not ideal. im longing to make a beautiful HEALTHY aquarium 🐟🥰🐟🥰 Thanks Lennie. For all of your responses🙏

Hello. I am planning on starting over after all my fish died. I am getting another 20 long brand new and want to get it planted with only plants that will thrive in my poolsand substrate. I want to cycle completely before adding fish. inhave decided to follow the vastu . Which says you to have 9 fish. I want one black . I’ve heard goldfish shouldn’t be kept in a 20. Long. what fish do you recommend? and I definitely want some sort of algae eater to be included in the total of 9. im thinking , mollies or platys due to the colors of gold/white and black I’m interested in. I love guppies and Cory’s too thanks, Annie Is it easier to deal with no heater cold water fish?
  6. Thanks guys. so I’m guessing I’ll have to drain and completely clean out? Even when my water tested good fish kept dying… I still have sand for substrate in a bag. Should I ditch the old sand? My filter HOB, has an area where it won’t snap together tightly. Could that be an issue? Do I get a whole new one? I have a 2o long with one HOB filter size large And airstone And it slightly leaks top seam at times
  7. All of my fish died. I had another thread on here but haven’t responded . We kept having power outages and blizzards so snow removal took over my life. All my fish died. The annoying thing is my roommate does nothing but fill her tank with untreated water and has no problems. Ever. For years. I try and fail. 😔 my tank is just sitting with no fish. part of me wants to wait to start again until I find my own place. That might be awhile… my other thought is to completely clean it out and start fresh with new plants and decor. Not even add fish…. should I bother or wait till I move? advice on easy plants with no co2 i do have a pretty good light Aquasky by FluvalSmart . id like a nice looking tank but if it’s too much of hassle to move it. / break it down I also want the hardiest fish possible down the road with algae crew… Amy suggestions would be appreciated, Annie
  8. I don’t have a test for those so I don’t know.
  9. Thanks to all for your suggestions. im still trying to ‘stabilize my tank. last night I tested the water ph-6, ammonia 0-.25, nitrite 0 nitrate 20-30 then I did 25% water change, cleaned algae off decor and sides, also added more of my sand substrate that I rinsed well first. have gotten rid of the dying plants and no dead fish hiding. added new red root floaters. this morning tested again. ph-6, ammonia 0👍🏽, nitrite 0, nitrate 5-10. my concern is the ph is pretty low. Should I add a couple sand dollars to the tank ? My Cory’s fins are bad but I was still waiting on the meds. To see how water changes went… I definitely need a whole new clean up crew! I appreciate you guys’ experience and getting back to me, Annie another thing. Temp is around 80 and I do have airstone
  10. Thanks for the responses and helpful video. I was letting my tank stabilize when we had a big snowstorm and lost power for four days. 🥶🐟🥶Very stressful for me and my fish. Power is back on and four of them made it through. I’m am now looking into a battery operated back up system for when this happens again.. something that can operate the filter, air stone ,and heater and lights. Are there any suggestions? I’m doing a search on Amazon right now. One more thing is the one bronze Cory that made it looks like his tail fin being chewed up?? Annie
  11. All of a sudden all my fish are dying. Just when I thought it was stable and doing great. the power went out one night for probably For only a few hours. That’s when I noticed the first couple fish died after that day. It started with an Otto. Then my clown pleco. I added some conditioned water and some aquarium salt that is supposed to be beneficial to sick fish. Next day more fish die. A couple days later I do another water change with more aquarium salt thinking this will help before I do the change I checked the levels and The ammonia was slightly high. How did that happen when I thought my tank had already been cycled. For years now. yesterday I removed the filter and added the tablets for ick treatment. More dead fish. This morning I added two more tablets. It’s so sad to see them struggling and I’m trying to save my Coreys and tetras now and one silver tip left. Another thing that might be the issue is I’ve seen that scented candles can affect them and I also bought new incense that is resin-based is this an issue is this what is killing them? My plants were looking great and my fish were looking great and now all of a sudden everything‘s going downhill😢 what to do? please help, Annie My roommate who thinks she’s knows everything is convinced it’s the salt . even though I added that after the first 2 deaths
  12. Hello, I have had Eco complete in there for a few years. I have had problems with vacuum in the gravel even though I followed directions and videos it does not suck up the debris I do water changes but the vacuuming does not work even though I bought a stupid fancy one that was super expensive that does not work either. The algae is out of control I keep trying to clean it it keeps coming back my Pleco died I’ve had Auto’s they’re dying I have tetras they’re dying. And I have Coreys and some of them have died. As of now I have six Coreys maybe two ottos. Five Von Rio Tetras. Another thing I have done went doing water changes is adding the aquarium salt and the water conditioner. I also stand on a chair so that the tube with the vacuum gravel is up higher than the bucket but it doesn’t do anything the siphoning does not work If I parameters you mean my water level I haven’t checked them today. But the last time I did they were all on point. I also checked to make sure the pH levels match the type of fish that can handle those pH levels add the temperature is probably around 78°
  13. I want to completely change the substrate in my aquarium. I bought a 20 pound bag of caribsea peace river. But it does not look like it is enough for a 20 gallon long. I saw a video where a guy used the P gravel from quick Crete. I thought about mixing the two should one be on the bottom? How should I go about changing this out and trying to save my fish that keep dying.? I keep doing water changes I keep trying to treat with ick medicine. I suspect my substrate that I have in there now is the problem. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you, Annie
  14. Thanks for the response. I will wail it out to make sure. But when it is the right time what did y’all think of my fish ideas?
  15. Hello everyone! I just wanted some insight or recommendations for my planted 20 long. My situation is I’ve lost a few fish in the past weeks. My dwarf gourami, corys, the last of the glass fish, a couple tetras, and my pleco. (wasn’t all at once) Pleco was after a water change. I was already battling with Algae before my Pleco died. I tested my water and it was good🤔 I got 6 tiny otocinclus two days ago and they’re still doing good. As of today my water test indicates- PH 7.6 AMMONIA 0 NITRITE 0 NITRATE 20-25 The fish in there now are : 1 cory 6 tiny otos 3 von rio tetras 4 silver tip tetras Heater is set at 79 degrees I have also battled with the ick and have bought aquarium salt to add during water changes. instruggle with siphon vacuuming. And i bought FluvalSmart auto gravel vac and had problems with…and snails! sooooo. Some of my thinking is what else can I fit in there that helps with clean up and is beautiful. considering a beta? Or another dwarf gourami . I also really like the look of appistogrammas but not enough room for a school. More Cory’s so he’s not lonley and they’re adorable, hillside loach I wanted to replace the pleco but I read they’re not easy. ‘what should i dooooooo? Thanks , Annie
