  1. I have to chime in here.. first of all, bro I will send you some water sprite. Give me your address and I will send you a mountain of water sprite. I live over an hour away from the coop and they're service is the main reason why I come back. They are all the nicest people ever. A real gem to the hobby. They are always customer first, I know firsthand. Obviously things go wrong, but it's important to be patient. It's unfortunate what happened, but forsure they care about you being happy. Don't let this be the reason, continue to buy from aquarium co op. Joe
  2. Yeah, the next batch I make I'm gonna thin it out a lot more and it should set in the mold a lot smoother.. I'm gonna play with some other molds too. I would like to make some that just look like rocks or let some dry with suction cups in the back to stick to the glass. Lots of ideas.
  3. Hah! Yeah I could see that happening. I'm motivated by my cheapness. I'm in federal way and the tap water is crazy soft. I'm running a drip system on 80 tanks and want something other than crushed coral to help with remineralizing. Specifically to raise my GH a bit. I also need something to slowly remineralize as the drip system will slowly change out the water. About 10% daily. This is the best solution I've come up with other than giant water storage tanks. Joe
  4. https://www.jehmco.com/html/accessories_-_media.html#FoamSheet These sheets of woven plastic work better than sponge material. The water flows through it better.
  5. Yeah that's exactly what i used. Thanks for confirming that. I also added magnesium sulfate and potassium sulfate.
  6. Oh I forgot to mention, they only cost 2 cents to make!
  7. My very first test run of a DIY wondershell. Not sure if it'll work, but I'll be testing it out in the next couple of days. I added spirulina for color and food for my snails and shrimp. Has anyone else tried this yet?
  8. I guess I could try to help you, but I've never mailed something out of the country before.
  9. https://www.jehmco.com/html/air_diffusers.html#PondDiffusers Try something like this..
  10. I've used similar pumps for ponds. It should work very well. Keep it out of the rain or build a box for it. Look for the larger pond diffusers and use a larger airline tubing. You could also just hard pipe it in with a threaded air diffuser. Look on Pentair or Jehmco.
  11. The vinegar eels are a good first food, but whatever you feed, try not to feed them too early. It could foul up the water too quickly if their in a smaller container. Also, if you really want to be successful, try getting 6 or 7 more and maybe then you could have 2 or 3 pairs going. You may have more success with a different pair. Not to say you can't be successful with these two, but it definitely increases your chances and will give you more practice hatching the eggs and playing with different parameters. Not to mention, if you have multiple pairs in the same tank, they will release hormones when spawning and get the other pairs spawning too. Joe
  12. These are definitely some older pictures, and it's definitely not worth $15k. I'm still in the early construction stage, but I have 15× 75 gallon stackables and a wall of ten gallons. It should be around 70 to 80 tanks when I'm done. I think he was just fascinated and wanted to be on my side. He was impressed and had the impression that this was a serious thing.
  13. Hey everyone, I just thought I would share this experience. This week our south king county home was appraised for our refinance. The appraiser was intrigued by my fish room and determined it should add commercial value to my home. I told him that I sell shrimp, so he called it a space for a business. My house appraised for an extra $15k more because of my fish room. I guess my "investment" finally paid off. Joe
  14. Apparently you can make molds with plaster of paris to dissolve in your tank to harden your water. Similar to a wondershell. Not exactly a wondershell, but very cheap if you need to do it on a lot of tanks (I hear). I think its gypsum, which is calcium sulfate. I think..
  15. Does anyone have any experience using plaster of paris in their aquariums? Joe
  16. I fill up a big 55 gallon barrel with water and add equilibrium. I let a giant airstone bubble in it for a day or so.. and then when I'm ready to do a water change it's all dissolved and also the same temp of my fish room. Also if it's too high I can add my soft tap water slowly to lower it. Works like a charm.
  17. I like to feed the 'baby' food by dennerle. It's a tiny crumble that spreads to every inch of your tank. It gives a light dust to your whole tank. The adults will eat it and more importantly it will increase the survival rate of your newborn shrimplets that you may not even know that you have. Joe
  18. That makes sense.. I guess I'll rip it all out. Thanks! 😊
  19. Hey everyone, this might sound like a rookie question, but is it OK to use a little bit of galvanized pipe in my fishroom? I'm building my manifold for my mixing valve, carbon block, and auto-water change lines. I'm using a little bit galvanized nipples before the pvc. I know Galvanized rusts over time, but I think my sediment filter and 2 carbon blocks should help with that right? A lot of people's homes are fully plumbed using galvanized, so I think I'm good, but like I said.. I'm still kinda new at this.. Thanks!
  20. Interesting.. that makes a lot of sense. Although, these are distinctly solid white. Almost non-mistakable (is that a word?). He imports them from Germany. But yeah, I could see how the average consumer would mistake them for regular albino. The ol' grandma test. Maybe I'll pass for now, but still a beautiful pleco we don't see everyday. Thanks!
  21. Hey guys, I live in the Seattle area. I recently found some snow white bristlenose plecos from a neighbor and I'm getting ready to buy a dozen to start a breeding project. Has anyone worked with these? He says they seem to die really easy? Joe
