  1. I filled it with water. I had a 75 from deep blue while running this as the sump. Sadly the 75 cracked while in storage. The RO tipped over and hit just right so I trashed it.
  2. I have had a Deep Blue professional 30 gallon? 33 gallon? long... Yea idk gallon it is. I was used as a "sump" for my reef tank for a few years. It hasn't had water in it since 2012 or 2011. Its been sitting in the garage since then. It looks fine and the silicon feels find. Its black silicon and slightly faded but the tank has been sitting under a shelf for 10+ years out of the sun, only exposed to cold temps and warm temps. Is this tank still good? Glass is all fine.
  3. I have had all sized and currently I have a 40 breeder and the wife has a 10g. I have another 10 gallon at work. I have had up to 75 gallon and TBH a 75 gallon is small. My next tank is going to be a very large island tank once I get new carpet and re-drywall the den/basement. My wife wants her cichlids back so I’ll do that. I’m thinking 220 acrylic but I just need to do the measurements. I’m not sure it will be that big though. I’m thinking something 6 foot long but 3 feet deep. Have a ridge of rock and caves in the middle.
  4. The date is on the bottle for legal reasons. The food likely when bad long ago unless it was absolutely air tight.
  5. Well dang. I don’t remember my amanos looking like that. I had them about a year ago before I knew that mollies were murders. They looks more clear but with the lines down the side like you see on google images.
  6. Is this shrimp safe? I think it looks like a neocardinia but sold as a amano. All my amanos I got a few weeks ago jumped ship so this is all I got left. I’m acclimating new Amanos from Aqua Huns now.
  7. A heater is a Heater. They will always fail. Just run 2 heaters and have 1 setup so its set a little below the other heater. Make SURE that you get 2 heaters that are small enough that 1 heater alone CAN NOT heat the tank to the desired temperature. If I had a heater fail in the off position I couldnt care less. I didnt run heaters on any tank until recently, except for my reef tank. A 100 watt heat is a 100 watt heater as long as it puts out its rated wattage then there is not going to be one more or less efficient then the other. ANY type of electric heat is 100% efficient. 1,000 watts is 3412.14 BTUs no matter what "type" of electric element is used.
  8. I like the course sponges. I used to have the fine sponges but Ive never found them to polish the water better. If you go long enough without cleaning a course sponge filter then it will become a fine sponge filter.
  9. huh... I/ve never cleaned anything in the quarantine tank LOL. Oh well.
  10. I got a few of those guys. They came in from my ember tetras from PetSmart. They are only in my quarantine tank. I like them but I sucked most out when I did a water chanfe this week. Haven't changed water in months either. Nothing really kills them either. They are always happy and moving.
  11. I would do 1 per 10 gallons if you have a lot of food available for them. I have 1 in my 40 and it's still too clean somim moving him next time I see him.
  12. I ran both a check valve AND the ziss bubbler. I don't think the check valve was the issue as those check vavles are WAY less restrictive then others I had. I think the ziss bubblers are to blame. I think tightening down on the felt too much causes the failure. I also don't think running these 24/7 was an intended thing. This seems great for transportation of fish but I wouldn't run one 24/7. I have ran one and it died. I smacked it around and it's dead. I think they are great little pumps but we are using them incorrectly by asking for 24/7 use.
  13. 10V doesn't mean anything. I can and have touched thousands of volts and it only tickled. Yet 120V at the outlet can easily kill you ( north American outlets are the most dangerous). There needs to be an amperage there to be able to kill.
  14. Thanks. They were sold as SAE so I will be returning them.
  15. Are they worth anything? As in do they even do anything?
  16. Which plants can I cut off that have grown to long and replant them? How do I trim plants? Is there an article or something out there with basic information?
  17. The US and Canada do not have anything to do with each other. In Canada they like to ban pretty much anything nice or useful it seems.
  18. I got my Ember tetras out of quarantine and into the 40. I have 23 of them and they all did great. I will eventually add another 15 or so embers. They school surprisingly well. That is only something that I have no witnessed before as all my tropical tanks have been smaller than 40 gallons. I have cleaned out the quarantine tank and am ready to get more fish whenever they come in stock. As for stocking additions I am thinking of some sorta or Gourami but not I am not so sure. I think I may do some live bearers but am undecided ATM.
  19. I love the motor in the aquarium but beyond that I don't like the tidal. I don't likenwater skimming either. It can take in too much of their food. The AC are ok but they bypass like no other and can be noisy unless you apply silicone grease to the impeller shaft. I would still get an ac but my marineland is silent and runs great. Mod it and its perfect.
  20. They are beyond fast. I had an order placed st noon Saturday and it wad in my hand before noon Monday. I love 3k miles away from them.
  21. This only happens go the aquarium coop tubing and I love it.. I have some and it's growing stuff like this and some algae and the color looks really good and natural.
  22. I thought I would love the tidal series but I hate them. Over priced and too small to do much. I hate the surface skimming. It makes feeding really hit or miss and becomes one extra thing to deal with. I don't like aquaclear either but they are decent filters. I have a 40 breeder and I feel my Aquaclear 50 is too small. I also have to medium size sponge filters on either side.
  23. I have very soft water here and I have to buffer with crushed coral. I had to put it in my gravel as when it was in the filter it was too much. If I had cichlids I might do the filter back but I don't want to raise pH too much. I just want to keep it stable.
