  1. Hey gang. I'm looking for a little guidance. I've been in the hobby about a year. I ordered a can of Aquarium Coop's eggs in early 2021. Most of the year I have successfully hatched bbs and fed my fish without any issues. Then, a couple of months ago, I moved to another town and now I can not get any eggs to hatch live. It seems like after 24 hours they separate from the egg shells, but out of a spoonful of eggs, I only see (literally) 4 or 5 bbs swimming and the rest just float with no movement like they are dead. I've tried dechlorinating the tap water. I've tried waiting for days and days. I've tried using both 1tbs and 2tbs of salt. I'm wondering if my tap water really sucks for hatching, or if my eggs somehow went bad around the time I moved. Thanks in advance for guidance or ideas to try. Here's my hatching setup... • 3.5 cups tap water • 2tbs 100% sea salt • fluval nano heater • usb air pump + air stone Tap water tested with Master Test Kit... gh 125 kh 72-90 ph 8.2 nitrite/nitrate 0 ammonia 0.5
  2. Hello everybody! I have a fairly new 10 gallon planted tank. It’s cycled, but at the moment only has a pleco, a nerite snail, and a tiny amino shrimp. Last week I saw two tiny hydras in the tank -- I scooped them out, and today saw two more, one of which was fairly large. Any suggestions on how to stop the hydras before they get too far? My ultimate goal is to get a betta, but I’ve been holding off on adding anything new because we’re moving in about a week.
  3. Thanks for the feedback! He's definitely a slow eater. He just meanders around and snacks. I'm sure I'll eventually find the proper amount of BBS to make and put in the tank for a single feeding. He's so small, he won't touch frozen blood worms just yet, maybe in a couple more weeks. At any rate, I have a coarse sponge on the intake, but I can see the BBS get pulled in, and I have a coarse sponge inside the filter, too. So, maybe some BBS will pass through the system and get back into the tank. I'll experiment with a timer on the filter for a few days. I assume if I'm on a 10min ON / 50min OFF timer for a few hours a day for feeding, that will keep the sponge bacteria in good shape inside the filter. Then, I'll have it come on and run full-time through the night.
  4. Hello everybody, I have a heavily planted 4gal nano tank, young pea puffer, and a small HOB filter (modded with coarse sponges per Cory's YouTube video and set to the lowest flow setting). I'm new to live foods and I was just wondering, do you just let the filter run when you feed brine shrimp? Or is it a bad idea to put the filter on a timer and run it like 10min ON / 50min OFF every hour to keep the brine shrimp in the tank longer and out of the filter? Or maybe I'm over thinking it. 😉 Thanks in advance!
  5. Hey gang, I'm thinking about buying the P25 Fluval Nano Aquarium Heater that Aquarium Co-op sells for a heavily planted tank. It looks like its made of a polymer and not glass. Can anyone tell me if this heater needs a heater cover to protect the plants? Or does the polymer shell act as a heater cover? Thanks in advance!
