  1. Francis has an odd growth near the base of his tail. This came on within the last week. He’s acting and eating as normal. I’ve treated him for fin rot twice in the last 6 months with Kanaplex. He responded to it well. His only other tank mate is a pleco and they ignore each other. Any thoughts are appreciated! May try a salt bath later (in a separate container) and do a 50% water change. 2. How are the Snow White Anubias doing for you? I’m sure it looks great against the dark wood. I’ve had my eye on them online but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. And I love my dwarf shrimp! The orange ones you showed are beautiful. I ended up setting up 2 small shrimp only tanks, one for Fire Red and one Blue Dreams. It’s been much easier to keep them happy in their own tanks.
  3. I have 2 males in a moderately planted tank, with lots of hiding places. I have never seen aggression and they sometimes hang out together in a cholla tube. Other times they explore separately. They have not been food aggressive at all - I have 6 neon tetras that are downright pigs and the Honey’s just get what they want to eat then chill out again. My LFS had suggested I get them to keep my tetras in place...That’s been a joke with these 2. They stay out of the tetras way most of the time. I adore their sweet nature and curiosity.
  4. Thanks! It’s all the iPhone 11. My iPhone 6 fell in the lake and I had to update. I don’t notice much difference except now my pictures are much better! (Bonus: this one is waterproof!)
  5. I love that combination too. This is only a few months along. The small amount of algae on the Anubias wasn’t getting taken care of by my Cherry Shrimp so I got 5 Amanos last week and *poof* All Gone! I love this idea! I’ll have to try this next. I’ve learned that I enjoy keeping most plants “modular” so I can rearrange as I like. This would be great to have it on hand, ready to go!
  6. I’m completely jealous of that huge chunk of anubias! Should you decide to split it and don’t already know how, this is a nice tutorial I found. Now I just have to wait 5 years for mine to be ready to split! Splitting Anubias Video
  7. I’ll poke around in that tab, thanks! We do have betta twins! They are such fun fish to watch. Mine is slow, curious and easy to photograph!
  8. I love the amount of work and detail that you’ve already put into this tank! Congrats on the planting part. I’m still learning a lot, but regarding the mosses...I’ve noticed that mine thrives where it’s getting good flow. If it’s tucked in corner or dead spot it is much slower to grow. I’m looking forward to seeing the “beginning of the middle” steps of your tank!
  9. Thanks James! I’ve got a lot to learn about how to actually post them though. Why do they rotate when I upload?!? I read a great thread about fish photography here on the forum. I’ll see if I can find it. Learned a lot from it - turn off all background lights and feed the fish at the front of the tank were 2 tips I use all the time Also, I have smaller tanks and I like detail. So I asked for a macro clip on lens for my iPhone for my birthday. I’ll put that link below. I’ve been happy with it, but then again, I’m easily amused. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A6D2JVI/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_ft7aGb65Y9YXX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  10. Hi all! I’m brand new to fish keeping. I cycled my first tank summer 2020. I’m up to 4 tanks now... but I’ve got my eye on another! 😂 I’m very thankful that my family enjoys my new hobby/obsession. I can’t begin to say how much I’ve learned from this group and Cory and Irene’s videos. It’s saved me from making huge mistakes and encouraged me to try new things. Here are my tanks: 15 gallon cube - this was supposed to be an aquascaped-only tank but it was my first try and I killed half the plants. Clearly my houseplant green thumb didn’t transfer to aquatic plants, even after 2 weeks of research. It’s now my display tank because it’s in my kitchen and we can see it all day. It has a boatload of hearty plants now, along with 8ish? hitchhiker snails, 1 Zebra nerite, 10 fire red shrimp, 5 amano, 1 Kuhli loach, 6 neon tetras and 2 honey Gourami. I adore the honey Gourami for their sweet nature. This tank is insanely stable and I credit the cleanup crew and plants. Fire red shrimp 3 gallon - started with 12, two weeks later I’m down to 4 adults and a dozen shrimplets. They didn’t look great coming from the supplier, so I’m not surprised that I’ve lost so many. Hoping they all bounce back soon. 6 gallon Blue Dream shrimp- started with 20 and they are holding steady. They looked much better than the reds so I’m hoping they start breeding soon. 3 gallon betta - my original tank, houses my betta (Francis VIII) and an albino pleco. He keeps the tank spotless and has doubled in size since I got him. I think the pleco will go to the 15 gallon soon. Francis is next in line for a tank upgrade. Yay! More tanks!
