  1. An easy one but also one I have wondered about, ammonia clearance rates. You can use small aquariums and reuse them, plus this should only take a day or two. What clears ammonia quickest? Plants only, cycled sponge filter, air stone, activated carbon filter? Take a pre measured amount of ammonia dump it into the control aquarium and measure the ppm. Then in the test aquariums dump same amount and measure ppm every hour or so until it is gone. You can then keep using the same tanks and see if a sponge filter and plants work better than activated carbon filter with an air stone and so on.
  2. Welcome! NWA is beautiful! I live in Springfield. If you ever get up this way I’ll let you know the good places to go for aquariums!
  3. I would do the bigger tank option, I had 1 then got him 3 friends in a bigger tank and he is much more active. But by himself for a year he did well too
  4. Thank you for the advice! My water sprite and wisteria are growing good as they get closer to the light but the hairgrass isn’t growing at all, it’s not dying either so that’s good 😌
  5. Shrimp will feed at night, what I do is feed the shrimp food after I feed some floating food, my fish stay at the top and this give the shrimp time to get the food on the bottom. Hope this helps!
  6. Hello all, so I have a 20 Gal High with just the lid lights that came with it. Looking to get a better light for plant growth. I have guppy grass, Java fern, Java moss, anubius, giant hairgrass, lutea, wisteria, water sprite, moss balls and subwassertang. I am looking at finnex alc but not sure what would be good for a high tank, plus most my plants are low light anyway. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
