  1. Just a few days ago my Tiger Lotus flowered, almost exactly 1 month after last time it last sent out a flower. Such a fascinating and beautiful plant!
  2. The good thing about the plants you have choosen is that they are really sturdy, if they dont thrive you will usually have plenty of time to figure out things. Other plants might just «die», but these willl show stress signs way before they go. My experiences with Java Ferns is that they really love potassium and iron. They were just in stress mode when I only used Tropica Premium Nutrition fertilizer, it was when I started using Seachem Iron / Potassium in addition that they finally began thriving.
  3. The sump is the underworld of the aquarium. Its usually dark and sometimes things get unnoticed down there. Some weeks ago I was fascinating by some events in the sump so I had to make a little video about it. Turns out small fry are not quite as frail as I thought they were! https://youtu.be/JYOmSJwny3k
  4. First, feels really great reading a forum again! So much better than social media. The aquarium hobby is very narrow where I live in Norway, and quite «snobbish» in a way. Its either Cichlids or those L-number catfishes. I dont enjoy fishes that either tear each other to pieces or hide all day. I have a passion for fancy goldfishes and I breed them in my appartment. Its so fascinating watch them grow up and see how they develop. The history and culture surrounding them in Asia is also really exciting to discover. I love to travel, especially in Japan - and the love for these fishes have made me discover a lot of cool places there. Just the thought that in Tokyo you can take the elevator high up in a skyscraper where they have a huge out of this world exhibition about goldfishes (ART Aquarium) is just so cool. I have a couple of larger tanks where I keep my breeder goldfish and few smaller ones for growing fry out. I really enjoy experimenting with plants in these tanks. - Alex
