  1. Thanks. Don't know if I'm getting cichlids again. I've been cooped up at home because of the pandemic, stumbled onto an aquascaping video on youtube, and fell down the rabbit hole, haha. I want to plan and build a "scape", and let it grow a while, and consider what fish to get while its cycling and aging.
  2. Those things get really big. I'd probably do 2-5 tops. But that's just me, lol.
  3. RIght now I'm kind of digging Honey Guramis, ember tetras, amono shrimp, and nerite snaials. I haven't tried these together, but want to.
  4. Texas Cichlid (Rio Grande Cichlid) I'm just curious if anyone has heard of these fish, or owned any, and if they are still seen in the hobby, how rare are they, etc.. Before taking a 25 year break from the hobby, I had a pair of these from a fish store in Texas. I think they're the only cichlids from the Americas, or North America at least. They come from the Rio Grande River here and they're stunning looking, as you can see.
  5. Check out Cory's review on youtube. He gives ton of info/thoughts on this Fluval E heater. Apparently if you place it diagonally or horizontally, it can fix the LF issue as well because the heat isn't rising straight up into the top of the heater.
  6. Yeah, Cory did a nice review of this one on youtube, and took it apart. It's made so you can open and clean it when it gets gunk in there?
  7. Hi, first time poster here. I'm looking to get back into the hobby after a 25 year break. So, I've scoured the internet, only to find that EVERY single brand of heater, even the expensive brands, have one horror story after another in the reviews. Examples: doa/only last a short time, not reliable, frying fish, shocking fish, etc. Seems like I've exhausted my options here. What are the best brands these days that won't break the bank, at least not too much so? BTW, I wouldn't trust a thermostat, I plan to have a thermometer for insurance. Thanks
