Based on substrate, I'd stick to stems and rhizome as a focus. You can get away with some stuff mentioned like valisnaria and other plants that can propagate pretty easily with runners.  I would have crypts up front, root tabs, and then val in the back.

What is wrong with the substrate? I’m new to planted tanks

What kind of light are you using and are you using c02.

A 55 is pretty deep so you'll need a decently bright light to grow dwarf hair grass or micro sword. I think some crypts might be a better option for the bottom level. The scarlet temple will also appreciate a bright light.  The Lily bulbs will do great in any light. I’d also consider some Java fern and maybe some Pogostemon Octopus too.

It’s nothing special as far as lights go it’s just a 48inch(same as tank) led shop light I stole when I redid my shop this is the tank now with just some tetras in it to help you get and idea

Clean warm water ie needs a heater goal of 78, low flow filtration, Indian almond leaves, and lots of plants are my recipe for bettas. Minimum of 3 gallons but you’ll see 5 and 10 discussed.

He’s in a 10rn I have 5 plants and a sponge filter on order right now just gotta wait till they ship

I would agree with this as a temporary solution before even considering putting him with an Angel. Since he is in bad shape you are also exposing your Angel to any bacterial infections he has developed.

Yeah completely agree, for when he is cleared and i know he is healthy what are some good tank mates I know i already want some shrimp but what else would be a good tank mate?

I think itll be tough to put the angelfish and betta in the same aqaurium. I would be scared that the angelfish would nip at the bettas long flowy fins, angelfish can be aggressive to new tank mates in my experiance.

What size of tank is he in now? Do you have any other aquariums that you could put him in? How long till you get this filter?

I don’t really know I think I would take 4-5 days because usps is a mess in my experience rn I had packages sit in one spot for a week or go back to places they’ve already been instead of coming closer he’s in a .5 gallon I think but it’s more of how it’s set up it’s got a supper weak filter with perma allege and no decorations I the only other tanks I have right now due to a discus plague breakout are a convict chiclid witch would eat him in no time and and axolotl in a 40b but I think it would be too cold as his tank is in the mid 60s

  6. I was just given a betta in pretty poor conditions and I was wondering if it could temporarily live in my 29g with 1 pleco and 1 adult angel I have a 10g I will be setting up but I need y to get a filter and there is none locally but I want to get him out of the tank he/she is in

  7. So I have a 55g I need to tear down and sanitize but I think I’m gonna take this opportunity to re do the whole tank right now there’s about a 70/30 mix of sand to gravel but I want to know the pros and cons also if anyone would like to give advise these are the plants I want to put in 4x dwarf Sagittaria, 2x scarlet temple, 2x red Mellon and 2x Amazon sword, stocking will be 6x discus, 4x blue rams, 4x rili shrimp, 1x normal pleco(will be removed eventually when he outgrows the tank)

Unfurtunetly no full grown arowana would be able to turn around in a 75 let alone live in one. The closest fish aesthetically that could live in those size tank would be an african butterfly fish. They are like a small brown arowana with little wings. I have one and they are surprisingly easy to keep for a rather uncommon fish.

I was afraid so I just asked In case there was some unknown species I didn’t know of. Do you have any pics of the African butterfly fish?

  9. I have a tank that had about 6discus in it but in June I lost 3 of them to discus plague and then it went dormant until about a week ago at this point I’ve done everything I could but I only have 1 left and it’s not doing so well and I think im gonna have to restart the tank so im wondering how I should go about that should I throw everything away except the tank or can the other stuff be treated?

I would not keep these fish together because of their  water chemistry non compatibility. However You could keep the African cichlid in a separate aquarium with its own different water parameters. Sense it is an African cichlid if you were going to go with making its s own aquarium, be sure to do some research on what water chemistry they can handle. I know they need super hard water and rocks capes but my knowledge of them ends there. I personally never do hard water fish because the water that comes out of my tap is so soft I have to add crushed coral just to keep tetras😆

Lucky for me African child’s is pretty much all I do besides my discus and axolotl lol he is already in a nice planted tank with al group of African chiclids the only reason I asked is because he complements the discus colors very well.

I really think it’s a cobalt blue zebra see last picture

The pictures I took don’t look that good But in real life he looks exactly like that

The first problem you are going to run into is that the fishes you mentioned are not really temp. compatible. The discus likes  it much warmer than most cichlid. The angels can tolerate high temp and in the wild some live in an area not much cooler than the discus but most tank raised angels are used to cooler temp. The rope fish is going to be unhappy if the tank's temp is 84-86; which it should be for the discus. A peacock like wise would prefer cooler temps. Last but least as they age they might (or might not) get along.

Here’s the best pictures I can get I believe after further investigation it is a cobalt zebra chiclid
