  1. So...my honey gouramis just bred today without building a nest...I didn't think it was possible but Gilbert was clearly protecting his territory from my female honey gourami Finley, and collecting eggs. He seems to just be sticking them in the floating bunch of water wisteria. Apparently, they do not need a bubble nest.
  2. They are super fun for sure. I recently bred my honey gouramis and seeing how they dance around the tank is really neat. Bubble nesting fish have such a unique mating style. I just think they are great.
  3. Nice! You must have some happy fish.
  4. Thanks again @Fish Folk! I'm going to try your method. I have plenty of jars and am testing to see what I can get to work. I had never heard of the sponge method before you mentioned it. Thanks also, for linking to Mark's Aquatics. I actually watched Mark's Aquatics vid a few days ago and started two of these using water from two different thanks to see if one would take off.
  5. Thanks, @Fish Folko I really appreciate you sharing your set up. I would be interested in hearing how you harvest infusoria from your sponhe filters. I've had trouble getting infusoria cultures started. They all seem to just turn to Green water or simply never grow any infusoria. I've got two tanks that run sponge, though, so that may be helpful. Also, thanks for the tips about Greg Sage. I've bought levamisole from him but I didn't think to reach out to him.
  6. I've run a fan on top of my axolotl tank and had similar results. They work quite well.
  7. I've put cherry shrimp in with my axolotls and they survived a surprisingly long time. I was finding a few here and there for about 6 months or better and tank was not conducive to their survival necessarily. If your tank is big and there is area above where the axolotls hang out you might be able to get them to cohabitate. I wouldn't buy shrimp strictly for that purpose, though. If you can, get a colony going in another tank and then you can seed your axolotl tank to see if it works. Otherwise it could be an expensive mistake.
  8. My bloodfin tetras breed every morning like clockwork. I've decided that I want to save some eggs and see if I can raise the fry. I've been looking all over for information about when to start feeding baby tetras as some fish have yolk sacs and do not need to be fed for the first day or so. When is the appropriate time to start feeding baby tetras?
