  1. Jungle fan, thank you. Yes that was very helpful. I really do not want then to grow much so keeping them in will help with that too.
  2. I have a bunch of diffrent kinds, I can not rememberwhat types they are. Here's a pic if you want to zoom in to see them. I have them in my peacock/hap tank and they don't get dug up nearly as often if I keep them in the baskets.
  3. I would like to keep my plants in the baskets they came in. Can I do this? Do I have to take the foam out so the roots have room to grow or will they grow around it? Thanks in advanced.
  4. I got the info I need. Thanks so much for the help.
  5. Does anyone know if a livingstoni and a albino compressiceps will work in a mixed peacock/hap tank. I know they get big, but will they kill everyone else.
  6. We are looking to buy a house in the near future. Covid put a stop to us looking but the plan is to upgrade to a 7 ft tank during the move then use the 75 as an mbuna tank. I do have a 10g that I use as a hospital tank for my 3 other community tanks and I have already bought and recieved the med trio,(thanks co-op for the speedy delivery(to Pittsburgh in less then 48hrs) but the 75 will be without other fish so is there any benefit to not using the medtrio in the 75?
  7. They are advertised at 2"-2 1/2" I remember listening to a podcast weeks ago (I believe it was cory but I could be wrong) whoever it was, they were saying maybe add 30 mbuna, a few die off, you rehome a couple super aggressive, then end up with a good #. I was thinking the same concept but with peacock/hap. I may even add the Oase canister b4 I get the fish and let it cycle for a little. Thanks for the insight.
  8. @Cory please answer this question if you see it bc the wrong information could cost me alot of $$$. Anyone else, please only answer/ comment if you 100% know from experience not just what you read somewhere. So I have a new 75g. It has been up and running for about 3 months with a fx4 customized with 3 diffrent grades of foam plus the intake has aquarium co op large pre-filter. It also has 2lbs of biohome ultimate and maybe 1 pound to 11/2 pounds Ceramic rings under the baskets as a sludge collector. I started to cycle it by adding enough safe start plus for a 20gal. Plus I put a few decorations from other established aquariums I have. I did that when I first set it up 3 months ago. 1 month into the cycle I put a 2 in glo Tigerbarb in bc he was beating up his tank mates. He has been in by himself for another 2 months which totals the 3 months since I set it up and now brings us to present day. (Sorry so long I just want you to have all the information.) Now my question... I am about to order 20 juvenile all male peacock/haps of an assorted section from livefish. Should I add all 20 at the same time or pay separate shipping and do 10 then a week later 10 more? I'm worried 20 at same time will end up with too much strain on the filter with such low seasond tank time. Thank you for your time and help
  9. Thank you guys so much for the info.it has helped alot.
  10. That's what I thought. Do rabbit snails even need a male to reproduce? I think some organisms don't.
  11. @CoryI had bought 1 yellow rabbit snail and 2 mystery snails about 10 weeks ago from petco. The rabbit snail was in my glofish community tank and the mystery snails were in my betta tank. I put the rabbit snail in the betta tank about 8 days ago so I could treat my glofish tank with salt. There is now a baby rabbit snail in the betta tank with 1 betta, the 2 mystery snails, and my 1 Rabbit snail... How is this possible? It couldn't be a hybrid can it? Or did it maybe get pregnant at pet store more then 10 weeks ago?
  12. @Cory I have a standard 75gal tank with a fx4 for filtration. i want 10 demasoni,10 Yellow labs, and 10 Purple ACI, with 2 clown loachs. in what order should i add the fish? loach, yellow, purple, demasoni? also is the fx4 enough filtration? im considering adding another just for a inline heater anyway.
  13. @CoryThank you for the fast reply and the help. funny story. I told my girlfriend I started listening to this aquarium co-op podcast and I played some for her. shes like that's great, so your really starting to get into this hobby? I say yeah, the only other guy I can find I like is this guy on youtube. I play her a clip of that guy and she says, babe, that's the same guy. look it says aquarium co op. lol. anyway, should I get a spray bar? Also, If I do just blue and yellows with 2 redtails. How many blue and how many yellow? I listened to your podcast where you explained it like a family in a crowded hotel so I understand why overcrowding works. im just still not sure on the numbers. Also should I put the red tails in first, then a few weeks later the yellows, then the blues a few more weeks later?
  14. let me start by saying I am fairly new to the hobby. a little over a year ago I got a 10 gal. with a betta and a couple snails. a few months later I bought a 30 gal. bow tank with some glow fish, a Betta, 6 Neon Tetras, and a few snails. I have been doing really well with those 2 tanks so now I am ready to graduate again. As the title says, I have decided I want to do a Cichlid Community tank. as of now , I already bought a 75gal Aqueon tank. Also, I bought a Fluval FX4 for my filter. I had just ordered 60 pounds of CaribSea Aquatics eco-Complete African Cichlids black sand. I am still looking for a heater. I was considering a fluval 300w e series. all ariticals I have read on them seem great but I am having trouble finding one. it seems a lot of places don't carry the E series. now,I'm wondering why? Are they not as good as they first appeared? OK... so my first main question is... should I buy a rain bar? I do plan on using all live plants. My next question I would like to have Cory McElroy answer if h happens to see this.... as I said I want Africans. The thig is I want to do it in a community tank. Im thinking a Plecco to help with Maitainence. I would also like to have atleast 2 red tail sharks, a couple rainbow fish or a small school of Tiger barbs (maybe 6 or 7). then the Cichlids I was thinking about were the electric yellow and electric blue. how many of each color cichlid should I get in a set up as I described.
