You may need to feed more. Watch and see how long it takes for the shrimp to finish off the pellets. Do the pellets last till you feed the next time or are they gone by 24hrs and the shrimp are having to wait 24hrs for another feeding.

I started with a betta and a thrift store tank. I did some initial research but only after I got the fish did, I really fall down the COOP rabbit hole. I also started in 2018 (winter).

How many goldfish do you have in the tank? If you have multiple, have you noticed spawning activity? Is the fish in question female? I am pretty sure my goldfish lose some scales during spawning.

You could do most(all?) of the cory species in a 40 breeder. Which look fun to you?

Can you share more information? How long have they been running? Did you add the proper amount of salt to the water? What is the temperature of the water (colder water will take longer to hatch, too hot will kill).
Maybe try and explain your process from beginning to end to give us a better picture of what could be going wrong.

I just dump what ever I feel like if I am mixing (freeze dried, pellets, wafers, flake), I just make sure the majority is Repashy (community). I over mixed with non-repashy once (bug bites maybe) and it did not hold together well.

One thing I have heard is selling low gets you in the door and if you have a good product and build a good relationship you can talk about a more favorable price for you. If it helps you could think about it from their possible perspective of some one coming in (maybe a customer maybe not) and wanting to sell fish to them. From their perspective they are taking a risk and have to invest time and space into a product they have no idea if it is worthwhile. I want to say @Fish Folk has built up a good relationship with their LFS...

But after that I could just freeze the rest for later and make my own cubes. But for as often as I would go through them not sure it would be worth it. It is fun to watch the fish go after brine shrimp.

In my experience no. I don't have a light nor heater and they hatch fine. It does take longer for them to hatch (especially in winter when it is colder). Play around with what works for you and brings about successful brine hatches.

My recent foray into lighting would indicate that plants are not necessarily as able to best utilize white light (compared to true full spectrum) and it could mean the algae is able to better use the lighting and thusly the nutrients. Lighting optimization is quite the topic...

I like watching them hunt for live baby brine shrimp. I also liked the fluval bug bites (never tried the betta specific ones) because they were small enough for betta mouths.

You could look into composting some, If they are safe for compost.

How old is he and what are you feeding (is the food old?)?

My experience with a female betta is she murdered everything she could (in a 5gal, 10gal & 45gal) so based of that I don't recommend mixing bettas with other fish but other people have different experiences. Puffers can also be fin nippers/aggressive so...
If you try just be prepared to potentially move her back out if needed.

I was wondering about possible food issues but started looking around for Corydoras anatomy and came across this paper that has a diagram which indicates it may well be an issue with their air breathing organs

Acuarium Co-Op Air Pump Troubleshooting and comparision

Has anyone tried replacing the rubber piece? Mine has cracked and failed (it has lived in a "pumphouse" outside in dry Colorado air for a year and a half) however the replacement pieces I see online do not have the vertical tab that the metal lever clamps on to. I am wondering if it would still function properly without the clamps working as a type of fulcrum.
