  1. Daniel, how accurate are the external controllers? Are they within a degree or two. If so this may just become a general practice. I don’t care how much I try to dial my eheims in they are always hotter or colder than what I set the, at.
  2. Lot of information on Cory's here. I pull mine and put them in a "red cup" with a light over them to regulate the water temperature. To combat any fungal infections, I use a couple drops of hydrogen peroxide from a 1ml dropper. Good job on hatching them and enjoy watching them grow.
  3. Thanks for the welcoms folks. I've already had a run in with what I would consider a facebook jerk. I addressed it and hopefully it's squashed.
  4. It's good information to know that you got them from a LFS. I've picked up fish from my local PETCO/PETSMART and quarantined and still lost them, which is why I asked Daniel. You are the reason Corey had to do a video about how to conduct yourself here. I digress. I think Ken asked some great questions. It is peculiar, one thing I wouldn't do is medicate the whole tank. Since it's 55 gal, you may want to add some aquarium salt about a 1/4 cup. This may help address some inconsistencies in parameters and can help with healing properties. This is just a guess, but it may help. I wouldn't worry about the water temperatures, plattys are resilient fish and the temps are fine for your cory's.
  5. Checking in from Northern San Diego county. Thank you to the Co-op for creating this forum. We have few local fish stores here, I have to drive about 35 minutes just to get my LFS. Of course there is a Petco/Petsmart about every other mile. The only fish I was ever able to keep alive from them were Cory's and platy's. I've been in the hobby for about two yeas now, and in that short amount of time I've had 11 different setups. We had tanks in each room at one point, but it just became too much. Currently we have 5 tanks set up, and we're trying to figure out how to move forward. My largest tank is a 100gal (50/50 split) which I want to modify so it's all one big tank. I've picked up most of knowledge from the good ol interwebs, mostly Cory, KG tropicals, and Corveus. We have local fish clubs, but they are very proper. If anyone knows of a group of people here in San Diego that are into educating folks, please let me know. Long intro, but I like fish keeping so I can ramble. Nice to be here and look forward to learning and seeing your setups.
