Lost one of my otos today, group of three have been living in a heavily planted ten (pH 7.2, 80 degrees, O ammonia, O nitrite, 25ppm nitrate). I’ve been feeding frozen BB, daphnia and Co Op fry food, for the small guppy colony that is housed in the tank as well. My question is, could the Otos be getting to much protein, when the fry food settles on leaves and Oto suck up protein when it stuck to the algae they want, because the dead body pulled out today had perfect fins and a fat belly. Secondly will they get bloat like an Mbuna.
