    we all do it. in planted tanks, it can take many attempts at counting to get a close number.

    i have a friend who made his own. he bought stuff for filling and draining water beds. it was back then cheaper than buying a python.

    you need to feed the otto's better. they arent getting enough food, so they are eating the plant.

    looking at the photo, odds are that guppy is pregnant. any time a male and female guppy reside in the same tank, odds are good. however it doesnt look likes she is anywhere close to giving birth. like said above though, they sometimes dont show a lot, but usually the abdomen will square off a bit when they start getting close.

    dim or not, it really doesnt take too much blue light.

    the co-op sponges are a very open cell structure. you would have to really neglect one for it to get blocked up enough to harm your filter.

    i myself would add 10 neons at one time. they are small, and dont have a huge bio load per fish. if you wanted 10 of a larger fish, then id probably do half at a time.

    SAE's do get about 6", and when small eat algae quite bit. when they mature, they dont seem to eat much algae.

    mulm and soft crud shouldnt hurt the pump. agree with the above, solid objects are what will jamm it up.

    oh so close. peanut butter, drizzle honey over that, then sprinkle on some coconut then cheap plain potato chips layered on.

    if i was to start again as a first time, i would look to find females in their own separate tank at the lfs. pick a few that look good to you, and then pick out a male that catches your eye. females in a mixed tank have most likely already been bred, so that makes your choice in males unimportant.

    if you can shut off the blue lights that would be good too. blue lights grow algae very well.

    took german in high school, cant speak it, but if a german speaks very slowly i can pick out words i know. picked up the needed words in countries ive been to in the pacific, but remember very few. i speak crusty sailor pretty well , even though its been a lot of years!🤪
