  1. Thank you they’re some great fish would definitely like to see one of you guys get and breed them!! The best I managed was to get 2 females babies to get around a half inch before they strangely stopped coming to eat and passed away! I gave up after struggling to raise them up to adults
  2. I really appreciate that! I’m happy I’ve been able to keep the 4 of them together it’s fun to watch the males show off to each other! Luckily I never see nipped fins on males or females
  3. I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted!!! I got sucked into a new hobby and I’ve been going all in!!! I went from relaxing next to my fish tanks to flying fpv drones and flipping and diving things 😂 I still have 2 of my tanks though because I can’t see giving up my fishies!! I have given up on breeding and just enjoy them. Sorry my weekly water changes went out the window and everything doesn’t look as pretty as it once was! Also my new phone doesn’t seem to get as good of pictures but here’s a few pics of my amazing fish still have both males and females 😍
  4. How exciting!!! They are amazing looking! How many did you get?
  5. Thank you! That’s a bummer about your eggs those are such pretty fish!! I’m sure you’ll be able to find something cool at one of your auctions! The babies are in a different tank than the adults I tried raising babies with the adults first because I read it’s possible. I don’t know how though the killis see something move and they eat it! Hoping these babies get big enough to add with the adults so I can try to make some more!
  6. Decided I’d post a few pictures of the adults and a pic of the largest baby. I’m not happy with the look of the tanks but I’ve been slacking a bit thanks to my other hobby. The fish are still looking amazing. Also this entire time I thought I only had 2 babies it turns out I actually have 3. The largest is definitely female the other 2 I’m unsure at the moment and being a 15g tank there could be more hidden around.
  7. That’s very cool! You definitely have them the best chance at surviving while you were away! I’d be interested to see the experiment done again
  8. That would be pretty crazy! Something I’ve yet to experience aquarium plants in the wild!
  9. Wow you aren’t kidding she is an old girl!! Looks like she has a good home to live her life out in though! Is that Myriophyllum?
  10. Yes and the adults are still doing great really hoping these babies hurry up and grow so I can move them and try again. Would love to at least get 1 male and female out of these guys to keep them going!!
  11. I have not attempted to get anymore fry from them yet. I still have the 2 fry though and the one is getting bigger I haven’t been able to get the best pics. Algae is going crazy in the tank but at this point I’m afraid to touch anything so I’m just leaving it alone! I’m lacking tank space and room for more tanks at the moment
  12. We all make mistakes!! Something to definitely consider when raising them in small containers is how easily the temp can fluctuate.
  13. Hopefully your new technique helps! It does make it difficult when you can’t keep a close eye on them! I had 13 and ended up with 2 survivors
  14. Yes all my fry would accumulate back there and I’d use a little shrimp net to get them out. I put some filter sponge to try to keep them from getting back there but they always found a way! I eventually pulled the filter sponge back out and just let them go back there if they wanted! I’m considering trying to raise fry in the 2.5g I have again. I took it down last time the fry died on me I like that idea a lot I just had bad luck trying to raise the fry in something small which is why I just decided to try in the 15g. Might be worth another try in a small tank again
  15. I guess in time we will find out! The adults are still doing great I wish I had more space to keep getting more fry from them! The 2 fry are living it up in a 15g all to themselves at the moment
  16. Turns out I have 2 fry from the Aphyosemion striatum. One is much bigger than the other. I saw the smaller one the other day and then when doing maintenance today a saw the bigger one. Not a very good picture of the bigger one but I’m happy I have 2 that survived. Both look to be females. Wondering if it had anything to do with not running any heater in the tank
  17. Very cool. Are those babies from the babies you raised up before?
  18. Unfortunately @Schuyler the shrimp are no longer around. The killis paid no attention to them at the beginning but then I started to notice the numbers diminishing and then I caught a male red handed with an adult cherry shrimp hanging out of his mouth. I had plenty of hiding places for the shrimp but the fish would wiggle right in after them. Unfortunately some fish just don’t do well with shrimp for the shrimps safety. Hope you find something that works!
