  1. I’ve been trying to find info on the exact filter since it came as a complete set up, I believe it’s the Juwel Bioflow filtersystem internal filter.
  2. Thanks for the advice, are there any other small bottom feeders that could live with khuli loaches? I’m not too familiar with bottom feeders other then cory cats
  3. thanks I’ll have to give it a try, I’ve used some before that were either SUPER strict or way too slack but I’ll give this one a shot x
  4. Thanks so much for the information, I’ll be sure to get my nitrogen right before changing anything else, hopefully these plants work out but if not then I’ll be sure to look for the ones you suggested, my local pet shop normally has plenty but they said deliveries of been off lately
  5. They were in a plant only tank. But the Java moss were in pots floating on the surface. I use Tetra PlantaMin monthly fertiliser. As for lights I’m not too sure, I bought the tank as a whole set up, it’s the Juwel rio, do you know how i can find out more about the light? Will it say it on the light ?
  6. Hi, I currently have a 125 litre (roughly 33 gallon) community tank that I want to add more fish to but I’m scared about stocking to much. Currently in the tank are: gold opaline gourami panda garra Khuli loaches (3) red eye tetras (5) blue king tetras (3) my plan was to get more blue kings and red eyes, and then a small group of cory cats. how many of each could I get before I’d be full? I do weekly water changes and it is a planted aquarium that I am hoping to add more plants too very soon (I’ve posted about my struggle with plants in the plant thread if you wouldn’t mind nipping across, mines the one with plants turning brown/having brown algae on them) Thanks in advance x
  7. The final image i remember it had the word “cherry” in the name, if that helps with identification.
  8. Hi, I bought some plants the other week along with some new fish because I decided to dive into the world of live plants rather then fake. I had a list of easy plants I wanted, but thanks to the pandemic deliveries to my local pet shop have been a bit all over the place, so I asked out of the plants he had which would be easiest to care for. And I left with Java moss, and 2 other species I’ve forgotten the names of. But I’ll post photos to help try and identify them. My issue is that one of the plants is turning brown, then kinda see through, and then the leaf falls off, but a new leaf then regrows in its place. Whilst the other planes are growing just fine, but have this brown algae growing on some of their leaves. I also have a problem with algae growing quite quickly on the glass. But the algae on the glass isn’t brown. I use a liquid fertiliser as last time I tried live plants my issue was they wouldn’t grow, and other then that i don’t really use anything else, and my lights are on roughly 7-9 hours a day. From around midday to late evening. Thanks in advance for your advice x
  9. I heard somewhere that they’re illegal/banned in some places? Perhaps they’re endangered in the wild ?!?
  10. Hi so about 8 years ago I I was walking through a local (ish) fish and reptile shop and saw these tiny little silver sucker fish in tank sat on top of each other and thought they were so cute, so like an idiot I bought both of them without knowing how to care for them. I took them home and one died after about a year (killed by the other one I believe) but they only seemed to hate each other once my bristlenose plec had died. Almost as if they were know competing to replace the plec as “top dog”. Ever since then this little guy (named Larry) has been through ALOT. But I can never really find much info on him other then a name, and NOT A SINGLE PERSON seems to recognise the name “panda garra”. so I guess I don’t really have any questions about his care, but just wanting to know more about this little guy and if people can explain why he’s so tough and some of his behaviour. As well as why he’s so rare and unheard off here in the UK. Maybe they’re more popular somewhere else?!? A quick list of stuff he has survived: Gone a long time without water changes, survived over 10 hours below 10C TWICE, as well as aggressive fish, white spot outbreaks and he also dragged himself out the water once, he was sucking his way up the glass while I was doing a water change, and when he hit the surface he just kept going until his whole body was out the water. Also I would HIGHLY recommend this fish to a beginner, they’re durable, not fussy eaters, pretty peaceful with Khuli loaches and corydoras, he occasionally chases some of the other fish but usually only fish larger then himself (he has a love hate relationship with my gourami)
  11. Ahaha thanks, I’ve always liked learning and you’ll probs find me asking a bunch of questions that I don’t even need the answers to, I’m just curious x
  12. Hi I’m Joe, and I’m joining this forum mostly to expand my knowledge on tropical fish and plants (and maybe offer some help to other people but my knowledge isn’t the best yet). I’m 17 and I’ve had fish since I was very little but unfortunately I still don’t know a whole. I think people can relate to the whole child gets fish, doesn’t really know what they’re doing etc etc. So I guess this is where I talk about my tank, I’ve had quite a few in the past, a tiny nano tank, a 46 litre (12 gallons?), then jumped to a 120 gallon, and now I’ve found the middle with a 125 litre (I believe that’s roughly 33/34 gallons) This is also my first attempt at live plants. Currently the tank is home to: red eye tetras x5, blue king tetras x3, a gold opaline gourami, Khuli loaches x3 and a panda garra. I look forward to learning about everyone’s tanks, experiences, fish, plants etc and hopefully learning from you all.
