    I think watching Stand By Me left me creeped out by leeches. I remember catching some turtles as a kid and picking off leeches around their necks and legs. This made me think of other kid worries, and I had to go find this John Mulaney quote: "I was a very nervous kid, I was anxious all the time when I was younger, but what's nice is that some of the things I was anxious about don't bother me at all anymore. Like, uh, I always thought that quicksand was going to be a much bigger problem than it turned out to be. Because if you watch cartoons, quicksand is like the third biggest thing you have to worry about in adult life behind real sticks of dynamite and giant anvils falling on you from the sky. I used to sit around and think about what to do about quicksand."

    I rarely have an issue with iPhone photos, only occasionally with top-down images, which makes some sense. For compatibility, I often use this setting: However, I think this forum is modern enough to support the more modern high efficiency formats.

    I have my schedules posted in the Fluval Plant 3.0 Scheduling and Programming thread. We have also talked about Lighting Siestas and Dual Siestas. The program I use is indeed 12 hours on, but it is also the equivalent of a six-hour full power continuous period. In this case, by full power, I mean the max % used in my dual siestas. Cheers

    It took me a while to get used to the color, but once I started seeing various blackwater tanks, and learning about the beneficial properties of tannins, I grew to like the look. The Mopani wood in my bow front tank is actually a piece I bought as a teenager in the late '80s or early '90s, so it is the oldest aquarium item I have.

    I run a few Apple TV units at home, but we have tons of Google Chromecast units at our schools, and we have been waiting for a new model with more features, and maybe better performance in high density environments.     Thanks! That tank probably has the most tannins because of the large Mopani wood, and the Yoyo Loach digging into it all the time. Another tank with a large piece is also very tea-colored. Some of my smaller tanks, run with the same style substrate and spider wood are much more clear.

    With my ecosystems, I have learned that multi-layer species tanks produce the most interesting fish behavior.

    Those are year-round tubs! I let mine go down to 52 Fahrenheit before bringing things inside.

    I use APS units at work, and I currently have a Cyberpower system at home. I think we may have discussed some of these products before. I think @Bill Smith and others have discussed and tested some interesting stuff regarding power.

    @SpongeFilter, There is nothing better than getting first-hand experience with plants, seeing their rates of growth, how they propagate, what they like, and how they go together. You grow a list of your favorites, start trying the cousins of your favorites, and then you find yourself with a new tank and a shopping cart of just the right plants for a new project.

    I sat on this video for a little bit, but I decided to post it. I got these in a Co-Op care package. I don't know if this was part of the plan, but this is going to push me into trying to breed more than shrimp. I apologize for calling airlines and tubes "air stones" in the video. These units are gorgeous, and so symmetrical. The lid can be mounted in any direction. The suction cup mounts are not identical, but they are similar. The things that look like air stones are labelled as diffusers.

    I have setup all my tanks with organic soil and tons of plants, and I mostly just top off for evaporation. I’m willing to put in whatever it takes to be lazy! I love having stable ecosystems to do the work for me.
