That was my other thought was to go with the Amanos, do you think they will run the otos around too much? Hypothetically speaking would adding more wood help with that for the otos?

Current hardscape. Made sure there are tunnels all through the rocks and wood. Adding a few crypts and a Java fern or two today along with red root floaters.

Okay looks like I’m on the search for a Borellii pair then! Was for sure looking for a very small pair since I know I don’t have a ton of room. But I did take hiding spots into consideration when scaping the tank. I also have a 20 long in the works for a different pair. And a 5 gallon to pull out any fry if that happens.

Wanting to do a pair of apistos in my UNS 40C it’s a 16 gallon. 15.75x15.75x15.75 cube. Good amount of wood and rock to create a lot of hiding. Will have dwarf sag, crypts and red root floaters for the planting. Tank is cycled and currently no stock to it. Was thinking a pair of apistos, chili rasboras and Otos. What recommendations would you make for the pair? This will be my first time with apistos.

This hunt has been near impossible to do. But figured what the heck I’ve got two males and looking for a couple females if any of you have some or know of somewhere that does please let me know.

Picked up my first two badis this last weekend the male of course was easy to pick. I took my best shot at a female from what I could tell. But I’m not sure if it’s female. I’m hoping it’s not a sub dominate male. I’ll try to get better pictures of them. Phone didn’t want to focus on them haha.

Hahaha 🤣 thanks for feeding the addiction. It’s worth a shot I only see the hydra in 2 spots right now so I’m going to try and syphon them off the 2 areas and see how it goes and get a couple badis for good measure. I have for sure 2 pond snails in there also that I know will eat hydra just don’t want the stuff pestering the shrimp

I know badis are a micro predator. I have snails and shrimp in my tank so I don’t want to use chemicals to get rid of the hydra. And I’ve always wanted to get badis for this tank. So my question is will they eat the hydra? I know they will pick off shrimplets as well and I’m okay with that. Keeps the population manageable. Thank you all.

Thank you. Yeah not totally sure how long he had them submerged and growing. I was hoping they they were just transforming so wanted to ask and possibly fix something before it were to get bad. I sit and just watch the tank for at least an hour a day and slowly noticed it and figured I would ask just in case haha.

So I’ve had this tank up and running now for about 8 days or so. All plants seem to be doing okay but the dwarf sag is looking like it’s melting or having iron issues it’s going translucent. It was growing submerged already when I got it from my LFS. I’ve dosed twice with easy green so far. Should I dose more or just let it be for now?

Any methods on the best way to get rid of the bladder snails? I have two narite snails in there that I actually want to keep haha

Learning about what I have living in my tank haha. First any idea what snail that is? And any ideas how to get rid of them? They came as a hitch hiker on a plant I got and since I’ve been removing 10 or so a day smaller than this. This is one of the bigger ones I’ve seen. And second any idea what that white bug I have circled is? I’ve noticed a couple of them the sit on the glass and swim through the tank. Surprisingly they are pretty fast. They don’t seem to mind the shrimp at all. Thank you all.

Patience, patience, patience. Everything happens at different rates for every tank. And don’t chase numbers. Just get them stable.

Just keep giving it time. Every tank is going to cycle at different rates. I’m doing the same thing with a 20 long right now. Going on day 3 of it set up and running. And I’m noticing my readings are changing so it’s in the works. Just have to stay patient. I also used fritz zyme for my tank to give it that jump start. I also don’t have any fish in mine just 2 narite snails and one cherry shrimp that was on a plant I bought haha. I’m just trying to power feed the snails some zucchini and just sit back and watch.

Yep with the shrimp I’m okay if they are hunters and will eat some shrimplets that keeps the population from getting out of hand I don’t want to have to cull shrimp all the time haha. That’s why I want the nano variations of killis so they will pray on the young shrimp

Any other options other than a clown killi to look at as well?

I’ve been doing some research looking for a pair of killifish to go with a 20 long community tank of CPD’s, otos, shrimp, and a hillstream loach. I’m trying to find options of killis that don’t get very big and stay in that nano size but will pop some shrimplets from time to time so they don’t get out of control. What do you all recommend? I know the clown killi but looking at other options as well. Thank you.

Why did I not think of that haha one plug to run everything via power strip. Easily overlooked haha. Going to check out the wyze cam that is pretty sweet!

Petsmart has a top fin lid that fits a 20 long. I just bought one for my aqueon 20L I picked up.
