@Guppysnail I finally was able to find something that would work on Etsy. I used the 2in version for my older All Glass Aquarium tank, and the 1.5in on my newer Aqueon tank. I could have used the 1.5 on both tanks, but I'm glad I got the larger one for more adjustments. 2in Adapter 1.5in Adapter

I haven't found a good solution yet. I don't like to see the water line so I fill my tank up so that the trim covers the water line. Because of this I don't want the ATO tube to be in the water. I tried Zerodis Aquarium Tube Clips and they fit the Aqueon brand, but not the older All Glass Aquarium brand. They work ok, but I was hoping to find something better. I might try these Fish Tank Water Pipe Clamp, but I think they would work better on a bucket than on a tank.

I've been looking at an auto top off setup, but it seems that all of them are made for rimless tanks. I have a rimmed tank and none of the parts that connect to the tank for the hose will fit. I'm trying a similar ATO as to this one in the link. Duetto2 Dual-Sensor Complete Aquarium ATO System However the bracket is way to small for a rimmed tank. I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to connect the hose to a rimmed tank so that the ATO can be used. For now, I'm using a IRWIN® 2" Quick Grip Handi-Clamp with the hose zip tied to the handle. This also allows me to have the proper height above the water line, but it is ugly. I'm hoping there is a better way to secure the hose especially on a rimmed tank. My All Glass Aquarium (the brand name) with the oak trim has a slightly thicker rim than the newer Aqueon tanks with the black trim.

@Macready that's exactly what I have on the intake of the AC 50. I see shrimp all over it and apparently, some of the smaller ones are able to get into the nooks and crannies. However for some to make it all the way into the filter box is strange and amazing as I'm surprised the impeller did not kill them. When I clean the AC 50 it is like I have a whole separate colony living in there and I have to be extra careful cleaning those sponges as well.

How do you keep cherry shrimp out of your HOB filter? Every time I clean my AquaClear 50 HOB, I always find a few shrimp in the filter box. Thus I always rinse both sponges in the filter box in a buck with some clear tank water and it never fails that a few more shrimp will come out of the sponges. This last time, I must have found about 20 that I rescued and put back in the tank. Most of them are tiny to small babies, but I have found a few larger ones when I have gone longer between cleaning my filter. I hope those guys haven't grown up in the filter, that would be crazy. I have a medium Aquarium Coop pre filter sponge and I see a bunch of shrimp grazing on the song so I know some of the smaller ones are probably inside the sponge. However, to make it all the way into the filter box given the propeller is strange. I'm just wondering if others who have a HOB on their shrimp tank have to be mindful of how they clean their HOB or is there a way to prevent the cherry shrimp from getting into the HOB in the first place?

Thanks @RachelElizabeth. I had a magnifying glass and could barely make out a few that were colorless, but I could not get a photo. That's what made me wonder, about the age, especially once you see them out and about with their color.

After about 2 months of my cherry shrimp settling in, I am now starting to see more baby shrimp. However, I was wondering how to estimate how old the baby shrimp are. Once you begin to see them out and about, are they a few days old, 1 week, 2 weeks? In the pictures, there are some baby shrimp and I'm just wondering how old they may be at this size for future reference.

Feeding is Shrimp Baby (M,W,F,Su), Bacter AE(T, Th, S) about a grain of rice +/-. Alge is growing on back and side glass. Also I give about 2 or 3 Xtreme Shrimpee pellets about every other day. Still working out the pellet schedule.

@nabokovfan87 Thanks for the detailed response. It's only been about a month since I've had them so like you said maybe they are still adjusting. The tank setup is a planted 29 gallon with a Fluval 3.0 and AC70 HOB with a pre-filter and baffle to disperse the outflow. Water changes are about every other week about 10% - 15%. The only plant is Moneywort which gets some root tabs and Easy Green. Temp - 74 Ammonia - 0 Nitrate - 25 Nitrite - 0 GH - ~150 KH - ~120 pH - ~7.6 Chlorine - 0

I have a planted 29 gallon tank that has been running for about a year. Early on, I had red cherry shrimp and chili rasbora with a couple of nerite snails. After about 6 months or so I sold the cherry shrimp to a friend. About a month ago, I decided to get more red cherry shrimp. Thus far, everything has been fine. However, last week, I noticed one of the berried females had died. Today, I noticed another berried female died. There have been no other deaths all month except for these 2 berried females. When I look closely, I can see small shrimplets so I know other females are giving birth, but I have no idea why the 2 that died happened to both be berried females. I did take a closer look at the second female and noticed a white ring around her body. I tried to read up on the white ring of death but was not sure if this applied to an already berried female.

@Rycraft Did you stick with the Tidal 55? I just put one on my 29 gallon Aquarium Coop with the large prefilter sponge. I also also cut out a square of the Aquarium Coop Sponge Pad Coarse and zip tied it over the skimmer. But like you, I am finding it is doing a terrible job at picking of the floaties in the water. I even watched some of the floaties go right past the intake. I wanted to like this filter especially because of the wide range of flow control compared to the AquaClear. I probably go with the AquaClear 50 or maybe the AquaClear 30 as I don't want the flow to be too much.

Looks like I may have to increase my maintenance a bit to help balance out the snail population. Thanks for the info.

What kind of sail is this? I'm seeing more of these around and I'm not sure what kind of snail they are. They are in my RCS only tank. Is there a way to get rid of them, without harming the shrimp?

@Hannah Parker Thanks. I was going to go with a lawn look using dwarf hair grass, but that would have been more maintenance then I probably wanted to do. I love the idea of a moss bonsai tree. It'll add a focal point, plus some height. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is my first attempt at a shrimp tank. Currently I have a sponge filter and internal filter. The internal filter is really just for surface movement and has a some filter floss in it to polish the water. Right now, I have both on the right side of the tank. I'm wondering if I would be better off putting the sponge filter on the left side and leaving the internal filter on the right.

I think I have Hair Algae, but I'm not sure. I'm trying to figure out what kind of algae this is and how to deal with it. I have a 75 Gallon with 2 x Angles, 4 x Mollies, 3 x Platies, 2 x Swordtails and 2 Corydoras. The tank has been up for just over 2 year, with live plants only for the last year. My parameters are: Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 25-50 Hardness 300+ Buffer 300+ PH 8.0-8.4 Chlorine 0 Temperature 74 In mid-December, I switched from some generic LED strip lights to the Fluval 3.0. Since it was a big change in lighting I started my light settings at Pink 40, Blue 0, Cold White 50, Pure White 50, and Warm White 50. After 3 weeks, I would up each setting by 10 (Blue only by 1) so now my light settings are Pink 70, Blue 3, Cold White 70, Pure White 70, and Warm White 70. The sunrise is from 8am to 11am with a sunset of 7:30pm to 10pm. My Vallisneria, Crypts and Amazon Sword are growing much better than with the generic LED strip light, however with what I'm guessing is Hair Algae. I'm dosing 2 pumps of Easy Green everyday to maintain 25-50 Nitrate (it's hard to tell which shade of pink) along with Easy Root Tabs monthly, especially for the Amazon Sword. I'm getting much better growth, but I'm sure something is out of balance, I'm just not sure what and where to start.

@msapphire012 Unfortunately it did not turn out well. Water changes and carbon did not help in my case and they all passed away within about 2 to 3 days. I was heartbroken and have not had the stomach to try again. I have tried the trio with Angelfish, Mollies, Platies, Tetras and all were successful. This has only happen with my Cories and it happened so quick. If I do try Cories again, I defiantly plan to try the trio one med at a time to see if one of them caused this or was it the combination of all three at once.

WOW!!! The main reason I want them is to stir up the sand. I may still try one since they seem to not eat plants.

I was looking for an alternative to the Malaysian Trumpet Snail as I did not want to be overrun with snails. The Lava Snail AKA Black Devil Spike Snail is larger, but from what I understand is similar to Nerite Snails in which it can only reproduce in brackish water. However, what I don't know is how are they with plants. I have an Amazon Sword, a few Crypts and Vallisneria. I am looking to get 1 maybe 2 for my 75 gallon to stir up the sand.

Are corydoras especially sensitive to meds? I recently purchased some False Julii and Peppered cory cats today and placed them in a quarantine tank with 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and 10 Nitrates. . I used the Med Trio and now some of the Peppered corydoras are now floating at the top upside down. I can still see there gills moving, and sometimes they'll move around at the top, but still upside down. The False Julii seems to be doing fine. I just received them cory cats today and medicated them as well with the Trio, so I'm not sure what else to do.

Thanks. I'll just follow the instructions too on Easy Green. But considering the plants I have root tabs will be the main source.
