  1. Amazing! What is the plant growing out of the water?
  2. I refresh my wishlist at least once a day to see if it’s in stock 😔 @Andy's Fish Den, I’ve heard a lot of people say it takes forever to grow in. Your new growth sounds promising!
  3. I got transferred to an outstation about an hour away. This is the view across the street...
  4. Wow it’s so exciting that the geranium worked out! I will have to try someday 😊
  5. It may be worth just bringing them a free sample so they can see how the fish sell without any real investment. I’ve done this method with plants but haven’t tried it with fish.
  6. Yes I still eat aquatic animals, however fish keeping has made me conscious about sustainability and I pay more attention to where the food comes from.
  7. I love that profile shot of the mossy wood curving out of the water. The perspective totally changes the feel of the tank in my opinion 😊
  8. Back when I had a dwarf crawdad, he would hang out with the snails 😛 He didn’t injure them either. RIP!
  9. Looks great, especially after only two months! I bet those shrimp will reproduce eventually, once the tank gets a little more seasoned 🙂
  10. I’m not in SF, but more north in Humboldt. Which also has a bay. 🙂
  11. I second blue or green rasboras 🙂 Especially the neon greens, they are a unique color and stay really small.
  12. Some sellers have the discontinued shrimp soufflé repashy in stock, which from what I understand is basically soilent green with calcium. I’m trying to figure out how to DIY it. Edit: I feed mine the goldfish formula simply because I have it on hand.
  13. I like having sand or small gravel because they love sifting through it looking for food. Just make sure if you do use a substrate that it’s not too big as it can be a choking hazard. Hardscape like river stones and wood is okay, just make sure there isn’t anything jagged, since fancies have those long flowing fins. There are a lot of plants that you can get away with! Java fern and Anubias are common choices. Really any sturdy plant can work. I’m having success with Vallisneria inside of the easy planters. In the past I’ve floated stem plants and it worked out well; the goldfish will munch on it and new roots grow from the “broken” pieces 😊 There was a blog article recently about plants and goldfish: 5 Easy Plants for Goldfish Aquariums WWW.AQUARIUMCOOP.COM Goldfish are notorious for munching on or digging up aquatic plants, which is a shame because live plants are both...
  14. September 2018 - fancy goldfish in a 29. I thought it was a huge tank at the time. 😓
  15. I just had to after seeing the post by @ange ... Repashy gummy bears. 😋
  16. @ange That is amazing, definitely a must try 🙂
  17. I’ve got a county desk job. It’s allowed me to have disposable income for the first time since I left the retail world. I’ve started farming plants to supplement my income, but I doubt I will ever break even lol.
  18. Realistically, a bowl that’s big enough for a young fancy goldfish would be a few hundred dollars. I did a quick google search and found a 24 gallon penn plax bowl for $219. You could pull it off short term, but a healthy goldfish will outgrow that eventually.
  19. The brand is Suisaku and I found them on Amazon. They are a little pricey but worth it!
