    If it were me I would dose 5 pumps, but if the tank is sparsely planted, 4 may be better.

    I would probably let the survivor live out the rest of its life while keeping it as comfortable as possible. Or see this as an excuse to set up another tank and buy more white clouds. 😋

    I love all male guppy tanks! You can always add more to disperse the aggression if that becomes a problem.

    My bigger fish get real names. Some of the distinct smaller ones (mostly guppies) get names like “tiger mom,” “yellow boy,” or “short tail.” Schooling fish?... no. 😅

    This can happen after months of overfeeding. Just so a few other things can be ruled out, do you have a way to measure pH, KH, hardness, water temp?

    My package arrived 5 days later than expected, but the plants held up beautifully as always. 🙂

    My planters currently have vallisneria that are still in their rock wool and plastic pots. They’ve been growing well and throw runners. I just add a root tab to the rock wool every few weeks.

    Exactly! I mean, we are creating underwater ecosystems in a glass box. Figuring out what works and what doesn’t takes trial and error.

    Crab cuisine. I am also experimenting with calcium added to repashy (RIP repashy shrimp soufflé) but too soon to tell how effective it is.

    The Kasa timer will just power on and off the outlet, there is no dimming function. The “sunrise/sunset” on the timer schedule refers to the actual time of day which will vary depending on where you are and the time of year. Based on the picture, the light would turn on at 59 minutes before sunrise and then turn off at 3:00 PM. Nothing would happen at 8:00 AM or 59 minutes after sunset since those are redundant commands. The Fluval light’s “sunrise/sunset” is a function, it does not work the same way as the timer.

    Indeed. Circulation continues to be a problem, even with the increased air. I have a few ideas that I’ll be trying out this weekend: - ring shaped air stone - no air stone, but add pin holes to the airline tubing and snake it around the bottom

    I got a workout opening the lid today... ...and remembered rust is a thing. Hopefully I’ll come across a plastic or rubber lid that’s the same size.

    I have one on my 29 gal and I like it. The first picture is the day it was planted on November 14, the second picture is today. I don’t really know what I’m doing with the settings but so far so good? Excuse me, gotta go cut that lily pad now. 😋

    We have baby brine! The bad news is the majority of the eggs didn’t hatch. A lot of them settled on one side of the bottom, confirming that there likely wasn’t enough air. ALSO, I did my math wrong and totally miscalculated the water volume. It’s only three quarts of water so there may have been way too much salt. 🙈 At least I had enough brine to feed two tanks! I started a new batch tonight with only three tablespoons of salt and 1/4 teaspoon eggs. Added another USB air pump so hopefully the circulation is better.

    I’ve wanted to hatch live baby brine for a while now, so that is my project for this holiday weekend. I wanted to use supplies on hand and only bought the eggs and salt. This old glass drink dispenser seemed perfect for a hatchery. I used a nail and hammer to perforate the metal lid, punched the hole out, then hammered the edges to smooth it out a bit. I added a little over 1.5 gallons warm tap water, 1/3 cup marine salt, and half a teaspoon of eggs. I installed the heater and air stone, then put the dispenser on a hot pad to help retain heat. Initial thoughts: The edges of the hole on the lid could be smoother, and I wonder if I should be covering it to help with heat. I am also concerned there is not enough air; it’s sharing a USB nano air pump with the tank to the left. I do have an extra pump, but I’ll wait and see what things look like tomorrow. 😛
