  1. What your experience with the chihiros light? Does it grow red plants ok. Very nice write up and good looking tank btw 👍👍
  2. Glad to hear someone else is doing a similar thing 😅 is there a method to the madness or do you get good results even with random mixing?
  3. Like to hear your opinion and experience in mixing two or mote fertilizers from different manufacturers. I have Seachem flourish and Tropica specialised and I was thinking of mixing them up with following schedule. Day 1 Tropica Day 2 Flourish Day 3 Tropica with iron Day 4 Tropica Day 5 water change Medium light system with pressurized co2 . Mostly planted with some stone work. Planted 2 weeks back.
  4. Wow that's really cool. Any pro tips for being so successful?
  5. Thanks @gardenman. Just the info I was after. Those super reds looks awesome!
  6. I think some plants prefer softer water. What are the plants you are trying and what is your ph?
  7. I got 3 bristlenose plecos and they are about 9 monts old. This is my first time raising bn plecos and hope I could breed them. I have added 2 pvc caves. One is around 4 inches and other 6 inches in length. 1.5 inches in diameter. I see lot of people recommend terracotta breeding caves. Does it matter?
  8. Two tips. Dont go too deep with the dirt layer and use a fine sand layer to cap it off. You can add more corse gravel on top of it if needed. Main problem I faced with my first tank was dirt leaking and with these tips you shouldn't have worry too much about it.
  9. One tip is to put lava rock in media bags and use it to add height. You can use small plastic pieces and strategically placed rocks to hold the substrate as well. I am a fan of deep substrate beds as I feel more substrate I have in a tank, less problems it gives in a long run specially if you dont have good filtration.
  10. If you haven't been to Sri Lanka you should definitely consider planning a trip once the travel restrictions are lifted. It was ranked as the number one travel destination in 2019. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2018/oct/23/sri-lanka-ranked-top-country-for-travel-in-2019-by-lonely-planet
  11. Hi Cory, Almost all aquariums are family run business here. There are few large scale importers and many small scale exporters. We dont have large markets but even small towns have at least one aquarium shop. Typical shop looks like this Video 1 Arowana , snake heads, discus and flower horns are popular among the local fish keepers. Yes we have some large farms both in public and private sector. NAQDA frams are the government run fish farms. I believe Dennerle has a large plant farm set up as well. Typical farm is some thing like this
  12. Hi everyone! I am a fan of both nano tanks and nano fish. Currently at 7 tanks I think do have a slight case of MTS. Also a a long time YouTube fan of CooP channel which really helped me to get back in to the hobby after almost 20 years. I have few long term projects on going . One is this two feet dirted planted tank. I knew the risks yet didn't fully realize how much of a challenge it would be. You can see my other tanks at my fb page 'Nano Fish Tanks Sri Lanka '.
