  1. @Colu Thanks for the reply. Looks like the marks on both fish have disappeared in the morning. Can it be an allergic reaction to the food, given the quick disappearance?
  2. I have 3 petricola catfish in a 20G tank. The tank is setup for almost 4 months now. Today I noticed a prominent discoloration near the pectoral fin on one of the catfish. The discoloration is seen on both sides. The fish is active, is eating food currently and is swimming well. Upon closer inspection, I see another catfish having the same symptoms but on a much lighter color. Has anyone seen such a symptom? Could this be aggression between the two? Water parameters: 20 nitrate, 0 nitrite, 0 ammonia, KH 40,GH 120, ph 6.8, temp 78
  3. Thank you all for the valuable suggestions. Given I had newly introduced the fish to the tank I did the following: - Reduce the air bubbles in the tank - Switched off light for around 3 days Looks like the fish was just getting used to the tank. He's pretty active now and surfs around the tank including the bottom from time to time.
  4. I introduced a Pearl Gourami into a 1 month old tank last Saturday (04/13). The fish has been lying at the bottom of the tank for the most time. The fish is very skittish and zooms off if I try to take a closer look. While he was interested in Krill flakes yesterday, he didn't eat anything today. Is this behavior normal for newly introduced Pearl Gourami while acclimating or is he somehow sick? Tank has 0 Ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, ph 6.8, 78 temperature, 40kh and 150gh. It has 4 snails, 3 petricola catfish and 8 cardinal tetras which seem to be doing fine.
  5. Thank you all for your help. @Cinnebuns Temperature is at 78. I tried touching the shell and they seemed to be the same thickness as of rest of the shell. I did a water change yesterday and hoping the crushed coral would raise the Ph as you mentioned.
  6. I have a 1 month old tank and I added 2 mystery snails to it a week ago. Today, I see a thin layer of discoloration on both of their shells. I am not sure if it was there when I introduced it to the tank. Does know if it is a deficiency or new growth. (I have crushed coral in the tank since 2 weeks and ordered some Wondershell in case) Ph 6.8,GH 120, KH 40
  7. 1 week old tank. Spiderwood in the tank started getting a white film around Day 2 and turned to black film now. The film comes off if scraped with a brush. Are these algae or just bio film? Should I be concerned?
